Mick P, if your wife is a pimp you know what that makes you...

If the judge was also a WIS you'd probably win uncontested...

Seriously, I think it's cool that she knows what she wants and it's a Rolex. My wife doesn't wear any watch and views my interest in them as a curious aberration...

TT Daytonas can sell for thousands less than their SS contemporaries.

It was a trend started in Japan in the 80's.
And because the ss models were more valuable, they became more desirable in the US.
Doesn't any body remember how hot the Explorer was?
That was all Japan. A popular actor wore the Explorer and it became the watch for Japanese to wear. It drove up the global market for them.
Same with the SS Daytona.

This information blows me away. Slightly less I can see, but thousands less - wow ! Why not buy the TT and convert the bezel and swap bracelets (sell the TT) and save a a grand ?

That is correct, Ken Takakura. Think the movie "Black Rain" with Michael Douglas.

I have seen Ken Takakura's Explorer under glass at a vintage watch shop here. With a letter from him. It is not for sale.
