Icon10 Headed to the bank to re-Mortgage my home....This hobby is a Disease....!!!!!!

TRF is a conundrum....
  • I could have started this thread by asking you: "HELP!!! help me decide between an 11666777234 and a 11666777234a....." But I chose not to....
  • I could bore you with long speeches....but I'm above that!!
  • I could ask you is it safe to wash my rolex in the dishwasher...?
  • I may have even been tempted to make references to "Garbech"...

But as always, I aim to start a thread that possesses greater quality content than than the following...(Nice try Arnie... ):

So here's my attempt to ask for direction, using pictures, hot girls and fireworks....!!!! and lots of it!!!!

Over the last few years, I've accumulated several watches and found out that I only wore a couple...the rest sat, collecting dust....I discovered and started following the philosophy that I should purchase my favorite watch from every brand I like, instead of owning several random watches, acquired over time....

I started divesting from my watches and using the funds to purchase a perfect line up (my perfect line up)...I'm 3 into the New line up and I'm already showing symptoms of the disease...... I'm out of control, seriously...! I'm concerned that i will end up with as big of a line up, except at 100X the value....

I'm a very visual person....So I decided to put it all on the screen to help me visualize where I'm going....maybe help me see the similarities between some watches (perhaps to be considered redundant....)

This is where I started (I had at least another 10 vintage Omegas, Geneve, etc....way to many IMHO) - Most have now been Sold

This is what I have acquired recently (Kept the Breitling Navi World from before)

This is the Pool of Watches I'm after.....Several redundancies for sure...

Anyone ever tell you you have expensive tastes? Great start on your latest collection.

I collect expensive pocket knives, and made the transition from quantity to quality, and settled on 10 (not many in the knife world). Of course, then I switched to Rolexes.

Wife says I have expensive taste....I always thank her when she says that...It's like calling me handsome, right? Fully agree with Quality (of Focused Purchases) over Quantity

I don't have a mortgage payment anymore .....sometimes I want to "refinance" and use our house as an ATM for cars and new watches but my wife would be filing for divorce .....not worth it.

Listen to Niel! This is the best advice I've heard so far. Having a home is overrated! 😆😆👍👍

You guys must be kidding . . .

Selling your home for some watches ?

We'll why not . . . maybe I would do it if I didn't had a daughter . . .

But I rather give her a roof above her head than a nice watch to wear . .

Anyway the watch she will get from me also

Ha! I am most certainly kidding...I'm fortunate enough that I could afford to keep the house and buy the watches ......

I'll play, how about the PP 5980 or the 5712 to start? After that maybe the RO? Then I have no idea! Good luck!

I was thinking that the 5980 is such a unique looking watch....maybe that would be my Patek....I would get that instead if the RO Safari... and I would opt for the AP 15400 which I tried and loved in Singapore..... Instead of the 5712.....

Great choices in my opinion! The 5980 is no longer in production and the RO is amazing!

It's just money converted into a different physical asset with depreciated value.

So rotating your pool of watches to suit changing tastes makes sense

Your pool of future watches looks like a good place to start.

That'll only get him an iPad. He's got to sell something else of greater value. But what?

Hmm I say sell everything you've got and play it on 17 black at the nearest casino.

As soon as you collect your winnings, buy the inventory out of the nearest AD and then start applications for the goooood stuff :)

To add to your great blue collection.... I would add in order:

1. IWC 503203
2 .Patek Philippe 5712-1/A

Really considering the double moonphase IWC but I may not go with the blue face.....I'm actually thinking there is such a thing as too much blue in my collection.....

Is there?

I would get the 5712R, for some PP RG, and the 15400. Keep the house then if its so important to you

Where would the watches sleep...? I just don't have as much wrist space as you might think!
