The iphone on the other hand can go in my back pocket and it's small enough to move to the outside so I'm not actually sitting on it.

Believe it or not, this size thing is the reason I've held onto my razor phone for so long. LOL. But the smart phones are bigger period, and that's that. So we'll see what the i6 looks like and go from there.
I think that is a fair one, if one carries the phone in one's back pocket there is no way to get around the size, although, like Wesley I am convinced that once you use the phone the size will diminish in the hand as you get used to it, however, it won't get smaller in your jeans pocket, there's just no way around that. If Apple keep the fingerprint sensor on the home button their 4.7" phone will be as big as the SGS5 so you may have to stay with your 5S until you find a smaller replacement.

Went to Verizon to look at all the cell candy yesterday. They basically have the same thing most phone retailers have. The iphone 4, which I'm testing right now, is so small...it's terrible; but I can work with it if necessary. The phone doesn't send texts with images quickly...and we've lost quite a few in transit. Maybe it's Att service in my area. My daughters are having the same problems, and they have new iphones!
Anyway, I'm still with Verizon and am test piloting Att service with an iphone. Right now, I'm not very impressed with the local Att service. We live in a full service area, so I don't understand it.

Anyway, phones that are impressive:
LG G3: good looker, supposedly great camera
Samsung S5: larger screen, great camera, water resistant?
HTC One M8: GREAT looker, fast, grt sound!, camera adequate, don't like blink feed--constantly updating (battery and data).
Blackberry Z30: Amazing looker, great camera, smooth operator, Android apps can be side loaded, all MS Suite can be accessed, fast, endless battery life, CANNOT use PayPal CC reader.
Iphone 5s: smooth, OS is stable but boring, fits into my pocket, OS works smoothly with PayPal CC reader--it's just a phone.

(preferences are not in any particular order.)

Any experience with any of these?

There will be different QC processes in place between the iPhone manufacturers and a no name cheap brand.

I'm not stereotyping anything from China, in the same way I wouldn't buy an unknown make of electronic device from a market stall, I wouldn't buy a non EU approved electronic device to plug into the mains and hope it doesn't catch fire whilst me and my family are asleep at night. The plug may be a UK three pin, but I am certain the electronics won't be approved to an EU standard...

There are enough incidence of after market chargers catching fire that to save a few quid the risk/reward is not worth it to me. An S3/S4 used would probably cost an extra £100 or so, or like I said, a brand new UK sourced Motorola E or G is the same price.

I have the samsung galaxy s4 and my wife has the iphone 5. I prefer the s4 for browsing the net, reading kindle and pretty much everything else. For pictures and videos, I would have to hand it to the iphone. Or probably my wife is just better in taking pictures and videos. lol. I'm waiting for the iphone 6 though. If it gets a big screen, I just might switch.

But my phone is a brand name THL although not ready known in the western world they produce some real good products.Would agree the case and purely cosmetic look may not equal say the Iphone but the components inside will match, and with my phone exceed the Iphone and many other main brands.Yes there have been reports of some of these items you buy from say market stalls catching fire. But so have there been many recalls for main brand electrical goods that caused fires etc.Now China is one of the biggest market for these phones, and I am sure if there was a problem with these brand name Chinese phones they would not be sold.I cannot fault this phone in any way, the charger is made by Salcom and has all the the EU standard marks because they are the biggest manufacture of chargers for most all phones made in the world today including the major brands its a huge company. And the Samsung S4 new is over £300 and its not so well spec wise as my Chinese phone.

I really love the size of my iphone 5... fits perfectly in my pocket and hand. I've used a droid for a very brief period, and I can tell you that the size killed it for me. I thought it would be the opposite since it's a much larger screen, but the bulk of the phone isn't worth the tradeoff. I really hope Apple still offers a smaller phone as an option to the rumored bigger screened phone.
