Rolex and the new Swatch Sistem51

The Sistem51 was introduced at Basel last year. With only 51 parts for an automatic watch and the assembly process completely automated this is a revolutionary watch. I've been on the waiting list since last summer only to be disappointed with delays.

The watch was first introduced to the U.S. In New York on 1 July and then in San Francisco last week. I took the day off from work to visit the pop-up store as they aren't accepting online or phone orders. There was even a person that flew out from Dallas just to purchase this watch. I also stopped by the SF Rolex authorized service center and picked up a new insert for my 16710 and visited Shreve's to check out the new Sea Dweller. If Jacek is around I'll stop by his store next. It's a great day to be a WIS. Cheers!

looks really cool. though at swatch's price point, battery/quartz seems optimal

Shame none of the current 4 design really seem to stand out for me.

This thread made me search the net for the first and only Swatch I owned. I still remember walking by the shop looking at it through the window display for weeks before I finally had enough money to buy it! I even bought one of those swatch guard/protector for it. Memories! Amazingly it is still being sold on the net LOL

hahaha i remember those rubber protectors, a buddy had one. i was more into casios when i was a kid, had a guess watch in h.s.

anyway, i picked up my first and only swatch (a bright red one) last summer while living in paris (didn't get a phone there, you could say a watch was a 'need'). nice souvenir, still ticks.

I guess I'll have to sell some of my Rolexes to get one. Ah the price of being in vogue.

I really like the concept of the Sistem51 and the price, I just don't know how much wrist time it would get for me. Maybe when they come out with more styles I'll find one that I like better than the original 4.
