Rubberclad Bezel-Rubber replacement
So I'm sure this has been asked before but my search using the search-function has found me no results in the 20 minutes I back tracked so I will pose this question to the good people here on the AP subsection.
Have any of you had the rubber on any of your rubberclads replaced? I've e-mailed AP service here in Japan and in the US and they both say the entire bezel (with metal), must be replaced. I could have sworn that wasn't the case... |

Yes it is the whole bezel, metal and rubber coated, that is replaced. If it's a steel watch there is steel under the rubber. If it's Rose Gold, it's Rose Gold under the rubber. If I'm not mistaken. This is a pricey fix from what I've heard.

I had an issue with my SS Rubberclad and just wanted to confirm that in fact the entire bezel needs to be replaced. This by the Clearwater (Florida) service center. The bill would have been close to $2K. I sold the watch "as is" a few years ago....

An AD told me it was 2-3k to replace the bezel this spring. (He told me an exact number but I don't recall, only that is was larger than expected)
He was using it as reason to steer me clear of that watch. Gotta pay to play I guess. |

This is the reason why I vehemently refuse to purchase any ROO RC. I'd rather take my chances with a metal bezel.

I thought I read it wasn't that much to change the gold one as they obviously keep your old one and use it to offset the cost?

CURRENT PRICE FROM AP UK FOR REPLACEMENT ROSE GOLD RUBBER BEZEL ......
is £800, I have had this price in the last 2 weeks directly from AP. They may recommend a service at £870 in addition. The other prices quoted on this site are wrong / here say. |

I should note that when I was quoted the $2K plus for the replacement of the bezel, it also included a service and refinish as they claimed (without even seeing the watch!) that it needed this (service and finish) as the rubber piece should not have flaked off unless I had "abused" the watch. I am beyond careful with my watches, in fact, the piece that flaked off (about the size of a pencil tip) was right around the screw near the 5 o'clock position and there was not a single scratch on that screw or anywhere else on the watch.
When I purchased the RO Dual Time last December, it promptly stopped working and required being sent back to Clearwater for service. I did not wait around to see what was wrong with it and was lucky enough that the local AD gave my money back and got a Rolex instead. Having two bad experiences with AP has not driven me away from the brand and hence why I'm hanging around this forum.... |
