From the TOP OF THE WORLD to the BOTTOM OF THE SEA...
Hey fellas,
I was at my folks' place in Canada visiting for a few weeks at the end of June-start July, & while I was there I decided to go Indiana Jones style uncovering some old treasure. Turned up a bunch of old National Geographic magazines, many of which had, amongst the amazing old photos & articles, some really great vintage watch ads from brands like Omega, Tissot, Longines, Audemars Piguet, Le Coultre & Rolex to name a few. The "Crown jewel" of my finds, though? The issue from July 1954 which documents not only Sir Edmund Hillary's conquest of Everest, but also a great article by Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau on his adventures to the bottom of the sea by bathyscaphe Inside this one, a very early, if not the first, full page Rolex Submariner print advert. Thanks for lookin' boys.. Jake B

Thanks, guys..
Oh yeah, for sure. Took a few home as well as a bunch of ads that I cut out. The magazines were actually destined for ye olde dump

Brought back memories of reading my Grandfather's old copies of National Geographic when I was a teenager. There were always some amazing articles in those things. You could lose hours just flicking through and reading the stuff that interested you.
That 1954 copy is a gem and looks mint - a keeper. I too would like to see some more watch ads from them.
