My decision, with pictures and questions
Thanks to everyone who helped me choose between the rose gold and yellow gold President models, as well as other information I really needed to make an educated decision. I'm so impulsive and changed my mind several times but I think I made a good decision and received a good deal. Here's what I was looking at and what I decided:
First watch was a P series (2000) model, model 118208 (i think), YG with smooth bezel and white dial with raised gold letters. This is the exact config I really wanted. Asking price $13,500 firm. Second watch was Z series (2006), model 118238, YG with fluted bezel and stick numbers dial, which I had changed to a genuine Rolex parchment colored dial with Roman numerals until they locate a white rolex dial for me. Watch has never been worn, plastic is still on lugs and other areas, and was purchased by a man in Tampa, FL from an AD in late Jan, 2008. Price was $14,990. I hope I'll have some agree on here that I made a wise decision to go with the brand new watch for $1,490 more than one that was 8 years old. I'm not sure what I could resell it for, but so far I don't have buyer's remorse. I actually think I got a good deal and am happy with it. Purchase included valid warranty, both boxes, and tags. I'm just looking forward to having them locate a Rolex white dial. I do have questions: 1) I had them size the watch to 7.5" for my wrist and it fits perfectly. I asked them to return any links that had to be removed although none were in the package. Currently the watch has 3 removable on one side and 4 removable on the other. Total of 7. How many (if any) did they remove and what should I be looking for? I cannot quite figure out how these are sized since the bracelet isn't anything like my Oyster. 2) If I cannot wait for them to locate a Rolex white dial, what would the Beverly Hills Svc Center charge me to put in a new dial. Do they take trades or would I be buying a new dial? Will they kick me out because they might know that I had the dial changed by an unauthorized Rolex dealer even though it's "in warranty?" Pictures to follow! LAX Last edited by LAX20531; 23 March 2008 at 11:12 AM.. Reason: Correct spelling :(; update title for pics |

Pictures of my new treasure!
Again, thanks to those who posted replies and sent PM's regarding my message earlier this week. Those along with this great website helped me make an educated decision.
Here are the pictures (these aren't easy to photograph). I accidently left the protective plastic on the bezel until the end which is why it looks odd. LAX |

I think the dial looks stunning as it is though I know what you mean about the white dialed version.

Congrats on an absolute beauty!!
Your 4th picture from the top shows a total of 24 (15 + 9) links all up....which is spot-on for the DD President. With your wrist, this watch should fit you perfectly with all 24 links on. JJ

I asked the dealer to size it to 7.5" and return any extra links. I was surprised that no links needed to be removed since I don't consider my wrist to be very large. At least I know I got what I paid for. Thanks for checking... LAX |
