Kids don't do drugs

I wouldn't paint so broad of brush on weak minded, there are a lot of stories of good kids being victim of circumstance or abuse. I know people with a heart of gold that were once molested and play hard with and then succumb to drugs. Heroin and the like. Very sad and not always their fault.

Scares the sheet out of me.

Wow, that was a lot! Little wonder why you were nodding off. I've been taking 3 MS Contin 30mg daily and up to 4 vicodin 5/500s for breakthrough pain since the late 90's. I tried oxys once and said to hell with this. I wanted pain relief to where I could function, not oblivion. I'm in varying degrees of pain all the time, but the morphine makes it bearable most days. I felt like i was going to throw up the first week, then all was much better. My doctor offered to up my dosage a couple of times over the years, but I declined. As I'm sure you're aware, once you take that step up there's no going back to a lesser dose.

I tried 100mg dose years back of Ms Contin ......it was like taking nothing for me.
Went back to Oxycontin after a few days....Im pretty addicted to opiates

Everyone's system is different. I've had very good luck with them and the vicodin. The valium also works great on my muscle spasms 90% of the time. As for addiction, there's no doubt I'm physically addicted to them. Lost my travel bottle on a three day weekend a few years ago. I was pretty sick from withdrawals until I returned home and took one of each. Not something I want to experience again.

W/D is like breaking both legs at the same time and having the worse case of flu one could have.....and it last for 7-10 days of hell.....Its not a pretty sight.... I know all to well the horror of physical W/D.....then comes the mental which is worse.
My advice to anybody is never take the stuff.

Not everyone who drinks will become an alcoholic; the same applies with painkillers. They're not to be trifled with, that's for certain. Those who take more than prescribed are really playing with fire; I'm not implying that's what you did, BTW. I was fast approaching a crises point back in '98; very depressed from the pain. I seriously don't know if I'd be here today if not for the pain clinic.

I never did more than I suppose to .....she gives me more than enough.......and gave me Diamorphine many times for pain.....which is medical grade heroin.
I live in constant pain 24x7 from motorcycle crashes when I raced bikes ......no fun....and most days stuck in a powerchair. I can only walk maybe 50-60 yards with help of a cane or walkers now.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. Mine is a combination of genetics and working with my back for years. I've walked with a cane since 1997 and have been walking the mall near me since January. Doc told me I needed to do something to slow the degeneration down. My biggest fear is falling on my butt. I'd rather take a header any day. Some days are murder and I can only make it once around the place before I have to give up, but I force myself to go almost every day. My last T-scores were - 2.5 in my hips. Don't recall what my lumbar score was, but it wasn't very good. She started me on Fosamax and testosterone eariler this year, not sure why she didn't do so much earlier. I attended a wedding on the 2nd and forgot my cane, of all things. My back and hips were killing me and I felt this swaying like I'd been out on a boat for hours the following three days or so. I've several canes and thought for certain I had one in the car. The sciatica in my left hip is a real mother, feels like I'm sitting on a hardball most of the time.

Prednisone helped me more than any drug with pain.....except I gained about 70 pounds on the stuff back in 2005-06 went all the way to 278 ......im back to 187 now and my clothes fall off me when I stand up. The opiates kill my appetite. My back is so bad ( two failed surgeries) I had to retire at 48 from IBM.....back issues really suck don't they?

They sure do, my friend. Nice talking with someone who knows what it's like. Many I've encountered over the years have had an, "Oh, just bite the bullet" attitude. It's something you have to experience to understand, and I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

It's easy to say that drug users are weak, losers, etc... but you never know what people have gone through that has led them down that path. I have never walked a day in anybody's shoes except my own and nobody has walked in mine. I am just thankful that drugs are not a part of my life or those who I am close to.

Yeah I get that too.....I tell them this kinda pain you cant some Aleve and it goes away.

I unfortunately know several meth cooks over fifty. Better I should say knew as I have had no contact with them since about 2 yrs after my divorce with my first wife. I had custody of my brother and sister in law so I had to deal with their mom until they came of age and moved out. I can tell you they don't get better with age
