Anxious energy!!

So as some of you know I am awaiting my first Omega from Davidsw :D. I found myself with a small touch of free time today and started getting anxious over my new watch! I decided to use this energy for something constructive rather than just fretting. I made my very first leather watch strap!! It is made from an old rifle sling and I used forest green stitching.

What do you guys do to keep from fretting?

Ha - I thought I was the only one who used finishing nails as a punch.

As for the incoming anxiety - no fretting - just heavy drinking and 30 second refreshes on the FedEx tracking page

You can really see the thickness in the last pic

I used the nails for holes I didn't mind sealing back up. I have a cheap leather punch but it is just out of the picture. I used it for the holes up the band for size adjusting. I also used the nails to fill in where the spring bars go during the gluing process to keep the holes open while in the vise

Nice work there!!!! I guess I don't get nervous, just happy that I'm in a position to afford things I really like (with hard work). I too am waiting on a watch and haven't even checked FedEx. I'm staying home tomorrow so it'll arrive when it arrives. Then I'll zip off to an AD to have it sized. and CONGRATS.

Wow, that strap looks awesome. You must have some prior experience with leather!

Thanks! No previous other than punching a few holes in belts when I lost weight and using a wood burner to make a Christmas ornament when I was in kindergarten. We will see how the next on turns out.

Here is number two. Made from a savage rifle slinguploadfromtaptalk1410878677545.jpg
I like it better than the last as the leather is more supple ans soft and I am digging on the silver/gray stitches

I'd like to see how they look on the watch(es) when you put them on. As another person with a few "slings" lying around, this would be a great idea. The thicker, tougher leather, and it already pre-worn from being used in the field on the rifle...could be AWESOME!

Thanks for the idea!!
