I have had a case for my last 3-4 phones, but I've never needed one. I have never dropped my phone from a distance that would do any sort of damage. Going forward, I don't think I'll buy anymore cases. I try to buy the best looking ones, but at the end of the day, they all ruin the aesthetics of the phone.

Check out Vaja cases Wes, I had one for my iPhone 3GS, it was absolutely stunning. Not cheap but when one may be laying out over 700 quid for a phone it seems quite reasonable.

Those cases look luxurious, but no case looks as nice as a "naked" phone. It's a trade off, of course. A case provides added security. Like I said, though I've always had a case, I've never needed one.

Of course, after saying this, I'm positive that I've jinxed myself.

+1.

Why I don't have a case. They're all horrible IMHO, and as you said, completely ruins the esthetics. Sort of like covering your iPhone in duct tape.

Strikes me that it is time they stopped calling these things a "phone" given that it is their least important function. Everybody I know who has one plays with the thing constantly.
Maybe they should make them with an inbuilt protective case that you could remove if you don't want it rather than fit if you do.

There's been rumors about the Sapphire screen since iPhone 4 I think... I don't think we'll see a Sapphire screen for some time.

I also doubt a sapphire screen will be the solution, since while sapphire has great surface strength, it's not flexible, and can't stand impacts very well.

Gorilla glas is probably a better option, the best one would probably be some new kind of plexi glass.

Well spank my ass and call me Sally, if you drop a new iPhone and it lands face down, the screen will more than likely be shattered. I never would have guessed. Thank you, youtube. Thank you so much.

Hi Sally...

Sorry Matt..you sent out a challenge.

There is something called ghost armour here in Toronto. Not sure if suran wrapping your phone will make any difference, but they claim nothing can happen to your phone with this wrap. I have a regular case on my iPhone 5 as I have for all my cell phones I've had. I also put a Zagg front screen cover on mine. No issues at all..

Wow that Ghost Armor is badass! Here's a video I found, I'm gonna check this stuff out for sure, I have a case on my phone but it would be nice to go commando without too much worry! http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5FbQMpmicFk

The 6+ is no bigger than some of the Samsung and LG offerings. I think it's badass and If I hadn't just recently got the 5S I would get the 6+ in a heartbeat! A case is just a reassurance incase of an accident. I use a Lifeproof case on my 5s and its not bulky or anything. That video was really useless though.

Quality, slim-fitting cases are available for pennies online if you search around. I use a Terrapin transparent TPU case on a 5S which adds almost nothing to the overall size. Is it really worth the hassle and inconvenience of a broken screen to go 'naked'?

I use a Lifeproof and so does my kid. While I don't swim with it I do wadefish and it has been soaked by waves with no issue - my kid had dropped his a few times, no issue. As for my wife, lets just say I now know how to replace a 5C screen.

Going to get the 6 or + in a couple months. I have a Droid MAX (6") for work and my 4S looks puny in comparison

The last time I put a case on an iPhone was 2008. I have never broken a button or cracked a screen. I've also never dropped my phone like you will see in these drop tests. No device is going to survive these, but as salesman, I recommend cases all the time, and never use one.

I've always done minimal cases on iPhone. I had a Bumper in my 4s and then an Incipio feather in my 5. So far my 6 is naked, but I have an Incipio on order for things like camping and golf.

Yeah, pixels aren't important once you're already at 8MPix. What is important is the size of the pixels. I guess Apples iPhone 6 has the biggest pixels on the market currently. Will mean great sharp pictures even when dark.

10MPix is really tops what a "consumer" will ever need.

Agreed.

You can have 10000MP on a cell phone. You will just have a crappy picture taking up a lot of space on the memory board. The limitation will be that pinhole camera lens and aperture. The small opening only allows so much light in. Add the small sensor, and it still is JUST a cell phone camera.

If you want good pictures, you still need to carry a decent point and shoot, or DSLR.

Yeah, just posted the video bend test that was inspired by the complaints. Shocking to say the least.

I guess I'm missing the point...but I would imagine most glass items when dropped will shatter/break...especially when landing on concrete or asphalt surfaces. As for using a case to protect my iPhone's...I choose to use an OtterBox Defender or a Lifeproof case. I do not not want to spend the time or hassle replacing broken glass screens when there are cases to protect the glass screen from breaking.....each to their own and that of course is why we have choices!!!
