Sales Tax question for the US based members
Hi guys,
I will be travelling to the US next year from the UK (either to NYC on business, or to Orlando on vacation) and will be visiting my aunt who lives in Atlanta before I make my way home. Is there any way possible I can buy from an AD in either NY or FL and have the watch shipped to my aunt's home address in GA, ready for my collection and avoid sales tax? Or would she need to be there at time of purchase? Excuse my ignorance but I have no idea how the US tax system works. Thanks! |

I doubt you'll get an AD to sell you a watch over the phone and ship it to your aunt. If you are say in Las Vegas and buy a watch and have the watch, not just the box, shipped to your home elsewhere you can avoid sales tax.
Maybe you should reach out to a TRF seller lie DavidSW that's in Orlando and do a face-to-face |

I've done it a few times at my local AD in Tampa, FL. As long as the shipping address is out of state, doesn't matter who buys the watch. It's really a nice way to get around saving 7%(FL sales tax rate) of the sale price. Now I can't say for sure they will do it for everyone but I really don't see why they wouldn't, its no skin off their back.
Or you could also buy from a trusted seller on TRF? I believe the whole AD experience is overrated. Besides being recognized by the sales people when you walk in, not sure what else you get. Maybe some just like the piece of mind of knowing that it will definitely be under warranty or they like to be fussed over. For me its all about the dollar, why pay more when you can pay less for the same thing.

My AD is in Indiana. And I am in Illinois (8.75% sales tax). I buy from him for a lot of reasons. That is one.
However, there is a "catch" to this free ride. You are supposed to fill out a form for all out of state and internet purchases and submit with your us tax return. Since you are not a us resident I am not sure how that will work out, but that is the rule. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Or you can work with one of the trusted sellers on TRF. Guaranteed no sales tax and best pricing.

Yep. And if you are going to be in Orlando, as previously mentioned, DavidSW World is there. Just let him know what you are looking for. Probably cheaper than Disney World. 😃 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You can buy in person at the Rolex boutique in Manhattan and NYS sales tax won't be charged if the watch is shipped to the GA address.

I've done exactly that with an Omega...bought and paid for it, they sized the bracelet and I had it shipped to my brothers out-of-state address at the time.

If you have a relationship with an AD many of them will do this, if it's your first purchase some AD's will flat out refuse but that's why people shop around.

I have bought four from David and he shipped each of them all the way to Japan from Orlando in 3 days. I think he can get one to you in Atlanta fast no problem.
