So four years ago the OP asked if the 16618 he was looking at would hold/increase in value. An estimate of the price four years ago was $18,000. I just looked and there is one for sale today at $17,600. So if he purchased that watch four years ago he hasn't lost any money since then and it will likely not depreciate further. Not too shabby.
