For my little family, our Christmas tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving. Also, most of the German Christmas markets open over the following weekend, so it makes for a great way to ring in the holidays.
I also turned my daughter onto "Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas". It's one of my TV favs as a kid. We'll watch that several times leading up to Christmas. Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer is also a popular one. And my wife and I always watch "A Christmas Story" on Christmas Eve after I read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" to our daughter at bedtime. My wife makes Santa footprints by our fireplace leading to the tree with flour and red glitter. Then we spend the next hour wrapping presents for our only child - who isn't the least bit spoiled. So yes, I have a few Christmas rituals. lol. But it's a lot more fun when you've got a Kindergartner in the family. :-) |
