Flip through a few pages and I'm sure you'll see several repeat names.. Davidsw, takuya etc... They can get you amazing watches, with BOXES and PAPERS for a great price. I wouldn't spend another second running around the DD.

Also watchrecon.com is a great site to browse watches for sell, just be wary of the seller. You'll probably notice there are some sellers that have dozens of watches for sell and are what people are referring to as the Trusted Sellers.

Can't go wrong with a SUB-C :)

Thanks for all of the replies guys...I think I'm leaning towards an Explorer I 214270 from one of the trusted sellers on this forum who ya'll recommended. I think it might just be the perfect mix of classic Rolex, dress and sportiness to wear on an everyday basis.

If anyone has any experience buying from these guys a PM would be much appreciated.

I think that when someone is buying his/her first Rolex or whatever more expensive watch then it is worth of taking time and saving money enough for buying a new watch from an AD. After being into watches several years, reading about watches, having collector friends and experiences from watches one knows enough about them and are able to see if a preowned watch is real, original, whether the price is reasonable or may you buy a brand new investing a bit more in it.

Don't focus too much on budget and buy your second choice. Better wait a little and choose the one you really want.
The sub would be my choice.
And most important buy here or at an AD.

As they used to say before the internet, You only get married once, so I would certainly go with Larry and say buy the watch that sings to you most, and sounds to me like its the sub for you so even tho it is the most expensive I would go for it.

For what reason? I purchased from a Trusted dealer, got a brand new in box watch with my name on papers for a significant amount less than any AD could touch. I tried to purchase from an AD and their complete lack of knowledge turned me off and to one of the trusted sellers for my sub-c purchase.

I was there once. I strongly considered the Explorer at the time I first purchased. Ultimately, I decided it was too close in price to my stronger desire for the 16710. I bought my first new at the AD and it's not a bad thing for your first. Now, I would only by new from our trusted sellers here.

I don't want to start a revolt here but I don't get how an unauthorized dealer provides a valid warranty card. I talked to several trusted sellers here and ended up buying my watch from an AD for LESS than any unauthorized dealer was able to offer. Was a no-brainer for me.

Trusted seller is sold the watch and papers by an AD who they deal with regularly so you will get everything the AD sells only at much better middleman prices. They are merely resellers, just like if you sold your watch you bought from an AD.

I get how it works but from what I understand warranties are not supposed to be valid to the 3rd party(consumer) in this type of exchange. I also heard that Rolex is going to start requiring online registration from the AD at the point sale.

I was able to purchase from an AD cheaper than involving a "middleman". The use of a middleman traditionally increases prices, not decreases.. You are spreading profits between 2 parties, vs one. A lot of the middlemen get their watches from other countries then you end up with a watch with a warranty card and books in a foreign language.

Don't underestimate the missing date on the 214!
I leaned towards the 214, too, at the beginning. I'm glad I changed my mind and finally got my 216570 ExII, whereby the old model 16570 does not leak any awesomeness, compared to the 216.

Transferable from the date of original purchase, correct? There is no way that resellers are supposed to be filling out the warranty card for the date that the watch is resold as some claim they do.

It doesn't really matter in my situation because I was able to buy from an AD for less than any of the TRF trusted sellers here. There was 0 benefit for me to buy from one of the resellers here.

The brief research I did(Internet Google search) says that officially, for the US market, the ROLEX warranty is NOT transferable but it rarely means that a watch bought from a reseller is denied service.

214270-ExI and Jubilé ain't compatible.
However, you can combine 114...ExI and 16570-ExII and Jubilé.
Anyhow, pricing on the only compatible old Jubilé is ridiculous.

I say for a special occasion watch like this that you will hopefully keep for years to come it's nice to know you are the only owner the watch ever had. You can never go wrong with an rolex!
