Can a 16610 be vintage?
I think an open 6/9 date wheel helps the argument!
Incoming 16610 from 1989, L-Serial. Many don't know, but for the first few years of the 3135 movement, Rolex still used an open 6/9 date wheel design which I think it awesome. Should I pick up an era correct 93150, or put my more modern 93250 on it instead? |

Open 6 is a nice find if original to a modern watch... but doesn't make it vintage. Whatever bracelet you like makes sense...

That's cool, I didn't know that about the open 6's on 16610.
93150 is the easiest and cheapest solution and a time tested bracelet. |

I don't think the 93250 will fit. The 16610 case for the SELs was slightly different. The 93150 is the correct bracelet for that watch and will fit for sure (and will look more vintage too). |

How about post-vintage
[QUOTE=Blackdog;5443452]Let's call it neo-vintage... (I have a '92 myself).

Not sure exactly when they started machining the lip, but it was several years before the 93250 became standard (and was never machined on the 14060M) and some 16610's can and some can't fit an SEL.

BTW, it's got the LIP One of the things I checked along with the open 6/9 date wheel Interesting why they would have machined the lip before they had the SEL bracelet. I wonder if the lip could have had some other purpose before the SEL bracelet came along? |

As far as 16610s being vintage - not yet, but soon. Enjoy your Sub and sometime when you have a free minute, stop by and see Chamosa on Preston Road and tell him you want a vintage date wheel for your Sub.

Yes. I was indeed being tongue and cheek. But the date wheel is a cool detail that I don't think many people would notice. All the singe digits are "blown up" to take up the whole date window. Can't wait to see it in person.

Vintage ! . I have a March 93 16610 and have had a 93250 on it but changed back to a 93150 with 501bs last year as tools said both will fit if you have the lip and it seams yours has so its up to you.
I love these topics because I didn't know about the lip till today and will be in the safe later checking if my 16610 has a open 6 - 9 Thanks to the OP I have learnt two things today not sure if I think my 16610 is vintage though |
