Submariner & Accuracy

Day 8 with my new Sub C no date and it's only picked up 1 second. Makes me throw out this question : Is the no date historically more accurate that it's other more complicated bothers with date and GMT functions or did I just get a real good one?

I've had several other subs and own a GMT all of which have run within COSC specs better never this accurate.

Anyone else had this experience?

No matter the brand or the movement its only as good as what it was regulated too,even simple movements can be regulated to run within a few seconds a day.My best to date was a Chinese Seagull ST19 manual wind chronograph movement cost just $60 for the watch.When tested on the machine timer was running +10 seconds out of the box, after careful regulation ran well inside the Swiss COSC spec.All my wearing watches now I check around every few weeks even then they are less than a minute fast.

I have a chrono with seagull movement. Paid 99$ for it

Keeps really good time.

This is the beauty of Rolex watches.
Its no marketing gimmick when they use the term "precision" timekeeping.

Rolex movements are so well regulated at the right error rate that it will consistently run fast AND slow; over the long term it maintains good timekeeping. Unlike other brands which will normally run at a consistent rate i.e. +3-4 seconds fast, at the end of the month, you would find you watch ahead by a few minutes.

So, I'm not surprise when you you Sub ND is just ahead by 1 second after 8 days. You might want to monitor it on a daily basis to see what Rolex means by "precision timekeeping".

Well said as usual, my 15 yr old 16610 is always ... No matter when I check him, within a minute of atomic time. I love my watch.

Just call the U.S. Naval Observatory Master Clock to set your watches time down to the exact second. Then you can call the same number at any time to see how many seconds you are off (+/-). The phone number is (202)762-1401. I'd also recommend programming it into your phone's contacts for easy access.

Thanks for all the discussion gents - I use time.is as well, going to watch it for a month and see it ends up - love this watch

I purchased the 114060 a few weeks ago and it runs dead on when I'm not wearing it (when sleeping) or if I'm not working. The moment I start working, it gains time. At first, it was about 10-15 seconds a day, and then day after day the gain in time while wearing it started increasing dramatically to nearly 60 seconds in the 8 hours I was working.

I took it back to the AD, where they checked it and ran some tests and gave me a print out showing it runs perfect. It was also not magnetized. They wanted to send it back the RSC and i told them no way. I wanted to exchange it. They agreed and gave me a brand new one that they had ot special order for me. When they received it, they did their testes in front of me, and it's running perfect.

The moment I took it to work, it gained 22 seconds in those 8 hours. Today, during work, it has gained another 13 seconds (so far),

What gives??? Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. I'm getting ready to return it and get my money back.

Why would it run perfect while on my night stand or if I'm not working, yet the moment I start working, it begins to run fast and gain.

BTW, I'm a profesional racquet technician. String racquets, customize, etc. There is no crazy or violent movements being made while I do my work.

My GMT II 16710 gain about a sec.per week as well.
I haven't timed my 114060 yet. I just synched it with my mac clock, will report in a couple of days.

My Sub-C Date was like that for 3 or 4 months when I got it. I waited patiently, and after about 5 or 6 months it was +1 each day.

I last set my SubC date on Nov 1st. On Dec 1st it was 1 second fast. Just checked on time.gov and I am currently spot on. Not bad.

I'm into week 3 with my 114060 and it's about 13 secs a week fast. I put it crown down when I take it off at night. I suspect it gains more time on my wrist than on the bedside table.

Not a Rolex, however my Blue Omega SMP has been running now for 82 days and she is running 2.5 secs fast for the 82 days. Watch was serviced last year by Rikki. Very happy with the results.

That's not quite as accurate as what some of you have been reporting in this thread, but it's more than accurate enough for my use.

Which server are you using for your sync and what is your method for time checking?
