Hello from Quesnel BC Canada

Hello one and all . My name is Harvey thompson and I am new to this forum .Am I ever glad I found it as I have just recently been bit by the bug and find myself wanting to buy a new Rolex for myself and possibly for my wife as well . I do have an Oyster Perpetual Date in stainless steel that I inherited from my father and I believe he got it in the 1950's . I'm trying to get the bracelet off to get the serial # but I'm having a hard time getting it off and when I do I'll post the # and see if someone can tell me how old it is . I wear it everyday and I love it . For some reason I find myself wanting to buy a brand new one . Have been doing alot of research on them and I do know exactly what I want but I don't know how to go about getting one as there is no dealer close to here . I'm looking at going to Vancouver or Edmonton to find a dealer . Does anyone know what an Oyster Perpetual Datejust in SS , jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel retails for in Canada ? The exact model # I want is 116234ssj.
One last question is what about these internet sites like SwissLuxury.com , are thy reputable and has anyone had experience buying a rolex from them ?
Thank you all in advance and I look forward to many more posts as I quest for my dream watch.
Harvey

Welcome to TRF, Harvey!

Please post a pic of the Oyster Perpetual Date you got from your father!

Taking off the bracelet is quite easy. All you need is a pin remover or a tootpick to push in the springbar. You will see holes for the springbar in the case sides. Better tape up the underside of the lugs to be sure that the pin does not scratch the lugs once released. Also, the springbar can tend to jump out, so bear that in mind so that it does not land somewhere on the floor.

If you like, I am sure a watchmaker would be happy to do it for you, too.

Swissluxury is a reputable dealer, so you should not have any problems dealing with them.

The DJ 116234 is a gorgeous watch! I hope you get it soon. I plan to get one, too - with a silver colour dial, but am planning to get the new Sea-Dweller before that.

Welcome Harvey, and I'll second what was said by BO, but by posting pictures of your Perpetual Date in the General Rolex Discussion you'll get more replies there.
