Root beer for me. That's my next purchase. Just have to find the right one.

I'm partial to the Root Beer as I have a 1978-1675 with a Jubilee bracelet. I would definitely go with the Root Beer. You have the added benefit of two-time zones, etc.

The blue sub is a more contemporary look, the Root Beer has a vintage look evoking a particular period in design... so depends what your style and preference is.

A root beer popped up on TZ today (not sure if I am allowed to link it)

I must say it is stunning and much more unique watch than the Blue Sub! However for me, I prefer the Blue Sub.

the root beer is a collectors piece and maybe an oppurtunity not to be missed at the right price, and the blue sub is stunning, though decision.....

The TT Blue Sub is a stunning piece. Love the sunburst dial. The root beers can be nice too, depending on the specific piece. I have seen some in great shape that look amazing and some not so much. Try them both on in the flesh and usually one will jump out at you, if not, take a pass until that happens. IMHO. Good luck.

When I got my first Rolex there was no doubt it would be a blue 16613. That said if I could find a good root beer on an oyster strap I'd seriously consider it. There aren't many around, but there are plenty of blue 16613s. If you find a root beer you like I'd grab it.

It's for sale here on TRF also.

The TT blue sub is definitely a lot more versatile in what color clothes you can wear it with. To me, the root beer is akin to the "hulk" lv-c where it makes a great second or third watch.

If the Root Beer appeals to you even slightly and you have the opportunity to snag a good one up, I would do it! Blue TT Subs are easier to find and you can always get one later.

So another Rootbeer popped up for sale, it does not have the fliplock clasp, I am not sure how much that impacts the pricing of the watch.

I am still looking at it thinking that may be the best one to get since there are fewer of them around.

What years did they make the rootbeer? How many of those years had the fliplock clasp?
