114060 because of the improvements, i.e. Bracelet, clasp and IMO the bezel

In my opinion the 114060 is better in every way.

Yup, especially the lack of drilled-through lugs
14060M for me please.

I prefer the older, classic case style. Looks and feels better on my 6.5" wrist. I prefer the lug shape on the older style case. I also do not like the shiny aspect to the ceramic bezel.
Also -- how can you beat LUG HOLES!? If you plan to change the bracelet often, (as I do -- leather, bracelet, NATO..etc.)...they make this process a lot easier. Ceramics will be around for a while...if you can find a good deal on a 14060 -- it would do it. You can always flip later for a ceramic if you change your mind. Probably would make your money back anyway. |

Try them both on, and see which you like better. If it were me, there would be no question. 114060 all the way.

Go new for the last classic icon, 14060M G-serie or random.

If you're new to the game, it's a tough choice. If you go for a random-serial 14060M, you'll get an updated movement with a classic, vintage case.
If you buy the 114060, you'll get a thoroughly modern piece with bracelet improvements, super case, maxi-dial, ceramic bezel, and the updated movement. I personally wanted the 14060M, because it was a such a classic with a proven track record and since I was saving to buy mine, while waiting for some windfall cash I knew would arrive eventually, I got mine in December 2011 a few months before the 114060 was introduced at Basel. I also saved about $1200 over the new model. When I bought my BLNR last Spring, I got many of the features that make the 114060 desirable and I still have the magnificent 14060M. In my opinion, that's a winning combination and the interesting thing about it is that it was all so serendipitous. Good luck with your decision.

I much prefer the 14060m. My main issue with the 114060 will always be the maxi case. I've been looking at these cases for years now but they just don't do it for me. The new SD is nice though.

Prefer the 14060m in that the case tapers more fluidly to the bracelet.
Love the ceramic bezel and bracelet on the 114060, however. |
