Pepsi GMT

Buying a Rolex is not as easy as it seems.

Now that i have found the one I want (BNIB Pepsi F serial number). I am concerned about the difference between the 3185 and the 3186 movement.

Should I be looking for a "Pepsi" with the 3186 M serial number? Or does it really matter?

And what is the difference between the movements?

Any thoughts?

The 3186 GMT is rare. Unless you buy a used one that is advertised as having it, then you likely won't know which GMTs have it.

In practical terms, having the 3186 won't make a dramatic difference in performance. Most 3185 GMTs should run well within COSC specs.

I read that if you want the 3186 movement, you should get a M series with the legend GMT ll and not GMT II. GMT ll has more chances on getting the 3186. The ll are two sticks and not romans like II. There is suppossed to be a more rare brand new GMT ll with the ll in a rectangular form. I have not seen picks of that one yet.

No you shouldn't be concerned about the difference between the two movements. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two.

M serial or very late serial. The key difference (presumed) is the wiggle test. Comparing an older 16710 to an M serial 16710 presents a very pronounced difference in how the 24hr hand acts.

F - series simply denotes the when it was manufactured. The current series is M. It does not mean anything in terms of popularity.
