What to do with a vintage red sub?

Hey Guys,

I am looking into a red sub from the 60's (First vintage rolex), and just want to what kind of things are needed to service the watch? What I mean is should I just bring it to a trusted rolex repair guy and let him decide? The other question is let's say the main spring needs a new one, should I have the new one installed in the watch and will it depreciate the value of the whole watch?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Depends on how much u trust ur watch guy. But imo its worth it since its such a valuable watch. U dont want the oil to dry out n cause problems with the movement. As the main spring, i would say no. Its like changing parts on ur car.

Yes, one that clearly knows what they are doing and appreciates vintage. Any proper watchmaker can service a Rolex movement if they can get into the case with the correct tool. But you decide what you want done, and agree it together - your property, his/her expertise.

And, no, replacing a mainspring would not devalue the watch, but enhance it. if it needs parts as part of the service, then that's what you agree together. I wouldn't change 'visible' parts though, such as dial, hands, bezel insert etc. because that will devalue the piece.
