A bit hopeful on this 1675 B&P?
I thought this price was for the watch at first, but it's only for the box and papers. A bit hopeful, you think?

Wow talk about a "bubble", $10,000 for box and papers?, hopeful is an understatement.

And they don't even include free shipping - $40 on top of the $10k!

At first, I thought this was a pretty good deal.... then I realized that the watch isn't included.

If an average-condition 1675 were included, the set might be worth what? 10k tops?

What a relief that "the original owner carefully removed the watch from the box"...

He's talking about the question someone asked the seller on eBay.

" the original owner carefully removed the watch from the box" Now I understand why it is priced accordingly. The watch was carefully removed from the box! LOL I do not know how fees are imposed for the sellers on Ebay, but I can tell you the seller just lost whatever fee he paid for this item for sale.

...and yet it's OK to expect $1,000 for a beaten up old insert or $500 for a used plastic crystal, or $1,500 for a rattly old bracelet. $200 for a tiny plastic pearl dot? It's just conditioning and expectations. To the guy with that watch it may well be 'worth it'. I agree 10K for a cardboard box is nuts (and very greedy), but then the whole arena is whak. A million bucks for a steel Daytona? It's all relative, man.

Agreed mon ami and all depends on market value of the watch? B&P premium for gmt matte is 10-30% premium generally but what so if it's an unpolished Mk2 matte head alone ard 10k? Would you pay anther 10k to militarised it ? Maybe I am still drunk over Foie Gras & Gallet (not to mention jetlag) - this type of sale is bonkers to most of the intermediate & season collectors. ♛lunetteverde@Instagram♛ |

Amazing that the owner went such trouble to preserve the outer packaging etc all those years back! Quite a set!

If the watch was included, then he could ask a bonus price that some collector would pay. But such a price for a box ? How did he ever though of that ?

It sold.
Not 10k. But. It sold. I imagine a Patrick Bateman type figure putting this on his white-lit dinner table, and carefully opening up his newly received FedEx package with white archival fabric gloves on... Cue 'Hip to be Square'. |
