Help!!! Tudor help...

Hi guys

I am trying to find a nice beaten up but still good condition Snowflake- am close to pulling the trigger on the watch below- but before I do would love some advise as to yes or no...

p.s I know has slight engraving- don't mind it, gives it some lineage and provenance (unfortunately does not say MN though)

Seen this one before somewhere - water damage / moisture causing whit dial to go goldish (not gilt), 80s service insert, lugs may be a bit thin. Pizza dial.

So is that a stay away? I don't love the super clean dials- these watches are 40 years old, but if you think rubbish then will stay away

Thanks

Depends on the price.

Does it have a Roulette red/black date wheel? If not, deduct
Black & pizza face are deductions (I happen to like them but there is a price cost)
Lugs look average
Some case pitting.
80s service insert, deduction

If the price is right and you like it - go for it ;)

Like mine - a fair but not stellar example.

What do you think is a fair price?

Have been struggling to find any snowflake for much less and then they really are dodgy...

Thanks

3400-3500 USD would be a fair price on this IMO - I have been accused before of being low on prices - I would but it for 3K

I have also been offered this one- but feel might be a little to clean for me, and the hand to dial patina is slightly off putting... Thoughts?

It was described as gilt by seller, you think he just doesn't realise?

I recently bought a late 80's 79090 on the original bracelet, in very good condition and all documents, inner and outer box and the anchor- paid $3400

Yes, is a new watch to me and obviously need advise- hence turning to you guys. Threads seem to die/people lose interest after a while, therefore I have restarted a couple to see if can get some new opinions about different watches. Apologises if annoying, just needed advise.

This Tudor sub snowflake belongs to Dan Pierce, and they are his photos of it. I was not aware he was selling it.

Edit: PM sent to DP

Let's talk about the second (blue) one - who 'offered' to sell it to you?

1. Because I think you're full of it.

2. I want to establish that the owner, whom I know, and your 'seller,' are the same person, for obvious reasons. You've posted easily recognisable photos of a well-known watch, owned by a well-known member, who doesn't happen to have a FS ad here for said Tudor snowflake, as far as I can see.

That's why I'm 'concerned', mate.

And when I posted that the watch and its owner are well-known, you shifted back to the first one. Plus, it's weird that you've started 3 threads in a couple of days about the same thing.

Because TRF is a tight knit community with friends worldwide that watch out for each other. They don't want to see anyone taken advantage of, buyer or seller. I'm blessed to call many my friends.

PM replied to. Many thanks for watching my back, my friend.

Just to put all the cards out on the table. I contacted the OP and told him I was possibly thinking of selling my snowflake since he was on the lookout. He decided mine was not the level of patina he was after. So I offered to review the examples he was interested in.

OK, glad that's been established! OP only had to say he'd been in talks with you when I said I recognised the watch and photos, and that would have been the end of it.

Indeed, pictures are sometimes erroneously used, so it puts both potential buyers and sellers, and owners [with no knowledge of, or intention of selling] at risk.

I'll get my coat...

Cheers Dan!

I don't think so - it is becoming more common to see those photo hijacks happen. I was going to PM DP once I realized that was his watch.

Was suspicious ... But at least he didn't call it a Steve McQueen snowflake. So all is well.

I for one am glad this community looks after its own and raises questions when they suspect there may be issues with a potential sale. Thanks for having Dan's back Vincent65.

I also hope Wilddyan can see this for what it was and not as an insult to his integrity. Should he continue to positively contribute to this community, he'll surely be extended the same courtesy someday. :)
