For those that like Lazenby and have an extra $120,000, you can own his watch. Here is the link.

Yeah it would have been awesome to have Dalton continue the role, I just keep thinking how much better Goldeneye would have been with him and if the writing would have been less joke oriented like the Moore movies.

Thanks for all the great feedback from everyone! I truly appreciate it! Still waiting for OHMSS to be delivered and will be ordering TLD shortly.
I've always known that my Bond collection would never be complete without them and I'm looking forward to viewing them both. I knew that if anyone KNEW about James Bond it would be members on TRF and I was totally right! You have all given me some great insight to these movies as well as some key places to really pay attention.
I currently have 19 (soon to be 21) of the 23 available Bond movies all on DVD. Has anyone felt it necessary to upgrade their collection to Blu-ray? Is there a huge difference in picture and sound quality? I do know that if I decide to get Blu-ray I'm going to go the box set route instead of the way I did DVD's, one by one.
I also wholeheartedly agree that IMO Connery was the best Bond but that Daniel Craig is getting REALLY close to surpassing him. Again, just my opinion.
By the way, did anyone else notice Richard Branson's cameo in "Casino Royale"? It's a quick one and shortly after his appearance there is a scene with a Virgin Air 747 taking off! More product placement I suppose. I wish that they would go back to Rolex for Bond's watch but I'm sure Omega is throwing boatloads of money at them to have Craig wear their watch. From what I understand, Rolex won't pay for product placement and I guess they really don't need to.

Hijacking a bit…here are some still scenes from SPECTRE filming--the car chase in Rome filmed in the last couple of days. I think its interesting how the they stage the cars so it looks like Craig (and the bad guy) are driving:

Ken, I have the Blu-ray box (up to & including Skyfall). The picture and sound quality are definitely much better than on the several MGM Special Edition DVDs that I have, although I have read that some are better than others, which is usually the case with big movie box sets anyway. There are some pretty comprehensive in-depth reviews online.

Thanks Adam and Booth! I guess I know what I'm going to start saving for! Dang it, I was sort of hoping you'd say "not much difference"! I know once I get them it will be a Bond marathon from Dr.No through Skyfall!

You'll also need to buy Never Say Never Again (and maybe even the original Casino Royale) for the complete set.

I'm going to get both, eventually, Adam. "Never Say Never, Again" falls into that weird category of is it a "true" Bond film? I know it was a remake but I can't remember which one?

It was made by another studio/production company, as I recall, but it was an original standalone Bond movie with a reheated Sean Connery, sporting a hairpiece. That's why its not in the box set.

Edit: just checked, it was a remake of Thunderball apparently.

I can't wait for SPECTRE! I think that Craig and those involved with the films now are really pushing the series forward and have taken it in the right direction.

I wonder if SPECTRE will pick up where Quantum of Solace left off? QOS wasn't a as bad as everyone says that it was, just not as good as the other Craig films and I'd personally like to see that story arc completed before a new Bond actor steps in.

No, I enjoyed it very much.

I was referring the the plot line that spent two movies developing an evil, shadowly crime/intelligence/terrorist organization that was reminiscent of the SPECTRE of the Connery movies. The story line that was never really resolved at the end of QOS but was dropped for Skyfall.

Yes, Mr. White re-appears in SPECTRE, tying it back to Casino Royale and QOS, but with a twist, I suspect.

I also have the "Bond 50" Blu-Ray box set with Skyfall ... A terrific set if you can find it. And I have to admit, I don't mind Bond wearing Omega ... They also have a history of supplying the Royal Navy, SBS, etc. If only he would wear the same one from one film to the next ...

Best Bond is Roger Moore, trust me!

The best film, 1973 Live & Let Die, best theme tune too and it is the one film that you see lovely close up shots of a Sub.

If anyone gets Encore as a part of their cable package, they're having a Bond marathon the entire month of March. Just finished FRWL (my favorite Connery film) and Goldfinger is on now. Classic!

OHMSS:
Great overall Bond movie ( even though I liked Connery, the change did revitalize the franchise)
Great locations
Arguably the best overall music score of all the Bonds.

Not as keen on Dalton as Bond, although he did reflect a bit of the "dark side" of the character's personality originally seen with Connery and now with Daniel Craig.

As far as watches go I believe Dalton wore a couple of Tag Heuer models & Lazenby a Rolex Chrono 6238

Both movies are a must for any Bond collection, preferably all in the latest Blu ray editions.

Of the two "unofficial" Bonds, Casino Royale starring David Niven is worth seeing. Never Say Never Again...a bit of a disaster, and one would have to ask Why??
