Same watch - Different patina between hands and dial index possible?

Hello all

Have recently came across a vintage sub with different colours (patina) on hands and dial indexes...The seller insisted they are all original and the different patina are always possible under some different environment...

May I ask if it is common that the dial indexes and hands are of different level of patina? Hands are less yellowish than dial indexes in this case...

Would be good to see pics. Difference does occur naturally, but is often a sign of replacement.

I would prefer the hands to have a darker tone colour than the index IMO :)

Absolutely possible. I've seen watches that I know for a fact to be all original that have different patina on dial/hands/bezel insert pearl. Often the hands go a little darker first, but I don't think there's any definitive rule. Heck, I've seen different patina on the hour plots of the SAME dial. Sometimes certain hour plots darken a little, while others stay lighter. If that can happen, anything is possible. It's not easily explained, but i guess it's all caused by the chemistry of tritium and the different mixtures used through the years, combined with sun exposure, moisture, humidity and all the other natural aging effects. Go figure.

Possible and a common characteristic w/ vintage Tudors.

Matching, all original patina is best w/ non matching, all original coming in a close second, IMHO. Matching and non original parts not the way nature intended.

in my experience more common that they do "not" match perfectly. If everything is perfect according to many forums I think its a red flag to do more research! Just my 2 cents and opinions vary :-) M

As others here have already stated, is very common for the patina on the dial and hands to differ but reason why ones having the dial and hand patina naturally matching command higher prices, since it looks better.

looks ok to me as well. my red sub hands are different while the dial tritium is almost gone from what ive been told is due to cleaning while serviced.

Its possible but fir this watch, most likely not due to the fact that the insert is service n the bezel is not rolex.

My hands are a little lighter. Came with watch too.
