Newbie Question Here

Hello Everyone,

Hoping some of the Aficinados here can help me out. Thanks in advance. I have a Submariner I'm looking to sell. I pledged through PayPal and waiting for Pledge approval. No biggie sounds reasonable. The Rolex I have just sits in my safe and I really don't use it. LIterally wore it twice. Prefer my Steelfish. Please don't hammer me too hard about the Breitling (haha). Anyways, looking to post it on the classifieds section instead of selling to a dealer (low) and have him sell it instead (high). What are some things you guys recommend when posting the watch? Serial #'s etc. Recommendations on a safe way to do the transaction for the potential buyer (new owner) and seller (me)? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Want to give the watch a good home at a fair price and keep my sanity at the same time.

Thanks Again,
Oscar

First, I believe you need to be a pledge member (Min $25 payment to the site)
Second, Never post the entire serial - maybe first letter or if it's a newer random serial number one - post first letter blur out a few and the next letter with some more blurred out numbers.
Third - As for exchange, I'm working on a Face to Face transaction right now - If your comfortable with that then go that away. I've seen people charge the paypal fee to the buyer, some people also accept bank check / money orders and/or a bank transfer.

But you'll also have to remember that people here who have sold, for the most part it seems, have reputations on the forum. A lot of people follow the "buy the seller" mentality. So a buyer will have to gain as much trust in you as you need in them.

Pictures are also an obvious must imo.

Thanks so much for the advise and quick reply. I pledged the $25 today in order to list it here. Not in a big hurry to sell it since it's just sitting around. Completely understand the trust the seller mentality and was thinking the same thing too. Once approved, I'll post it with some good pics, paperwork etc and see what happens. Was thinking could do the transaction at a Rolex dealer locally for a small fee to the buyer in order to put his/her mind at ease. We have few here in OC. I know that sounded pretentious. Hahaha! Any more advise would appretiated.

Thanks,
Oscar
