Well, it's a mil Sub all right, but can anybody point out anything that identifies it specifically as having been made for the SBS? Weere the sword hands only for the SBS?

I'm not sure. I'm pretty certain it would say "SBS" on the actual watch itself. What kind of beret is that?

It probably wouldn't be marked SBS. I think that the reasoning is that the only members of the Royal Navy/Royal Marines to be issued these were SBS guys. Since it was bought at a Royal Navy auction.....That's my best guess.

I'm sorry. I made a typo. I meant to type "wouldn't say 'SBS' on the watch." But yes Beef, I think you're correct since it was only issued to SBS or Royal Marines.

Now there are variations of the Mil Sub. Most, if not all the 5517 Subs have sword hands. Most if not all went to the SBS. There is the 5513 Mil Sub and they have mercedes hands. They were also issued to RN divers (hardhat, salvage-type) and probably some SBS. Then there are the "Bexeley" Mil Subs, those regular production Subs modified by RSC Bexeley at MOD request. I have learned that as soon as you say "all" an anomally will pop up with documentation. Go to www.doubleredseadweller.com and check out the Mil Sub section. Also www.bjsonline.com. A lot of guys at that site collect Mil Subs. ( way out of my means.) If you can get into the Mil Sub forum, there is great info there.
