Corny watch loving dad
Like 99.7% of the people here, I have loved watches since I can remember. My dad owned different Rolexes through the years and I enjoyed wearing them around the house as a kid.
I have 2 sons and when they grow up I want to give them a Rolex that was manufactured the year they were born. Already got a black GMT II for the one that was born in 2007, from a respectable seller here. I need to get one for the one that was born in 2004. Of course I plan to wear the watches until I think they are ready for the responsability. I already have a white dial Daytona, so what do you guys think would be a good add to the mini collection and that would be cool to wear 10-15 years from now? |

One of these would fit the bill quite well...

definitely a 2004 sub date for it's versatility and its likeness to the 2007 GMT , you don't want the watches to be different enough that one may like the others watch more but you want them different enough that you will desire wearing them both . so in this situation i would get a pepsi or coke insert for your current 2007 GMT to change it up while it is still yours, but keep the black insert for the future, and start hunting for a Sub date from 2004 . both are cool now and still will be in 15 to 20 years as well !

I think a 2004 Exp 2 would be nice. Since the GMT and Exp 2 are both dual time watches. Plus 2004 EXP 2 are the best value pieces in the pre own market right now. If you are thinking to add a sub, I would look at the SD instead. I feel SD are a little less common and cleaner without the cyclops. Good luck

Getting a birth year watch is always nice but I think it is even better to let your sons make their own choice when getting their first Rolex.
