We got a lot of rain last night but didn't affect search efforts too much...kept helicopters out of the air for some of the morning.

My buddy got the body of Andrew, his 6 yo boy, back today. Some amount of closure for him.

Tomorrow is another day.

Can't imagine how he must feel right now. Poor child had his whole life ahead of him. Thoughts with all of those who have lost loved ones.

Will hug my two that much tighter when they wake up tomorrow.

Terrible news.

I do not want to sound overly chipper in a dire situation but miracles can still happen. Will forward some good words for them this evening.

My buddy is searching for his family after flood...

Hey guys, I just got back from another 2 days up there (I came home Sunday to see my family).

We are making steady progress, having found 5 of the 8 lost. Unfortunately, 2 of the 3 missing are little ones (4yo girl; 6 yo boy).

The volunteer force is truly a focused, well-oiled machine at this point. We are working closely with state and local authorities; we stay out of their way but help when they need manual labor. Likewise, when we find a promising spot that has multiple indicators of the possible presence of remains, we call in those authorities who then take over the scene to do a "proper" search.

Working with them in this manner has led to multiple otherwise tricky finds.

My faith in humanity has been reaffirmed by this tragedy. I've met other volunteers who came from near and far to assist in the search, even though they had absolutely no connection to the victims or families. Just good people who want to help. This weekend 1,500 people showed up each day to lend a hand.

I'm also very proud of my friends and community for dropping everything to go help our buddies in their time of incredible need.

The locales in which we are searching have also been devastated by the flood. Lots of folks who started with little now have nothing.

I encourage (plead with?) anyone who can do so to donate to charities local to the flood. I will pull some websites and post them here.

I hope we have some more "good" news on the search front as early as tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

Hug your children extra tight, be a little more patient with that annoying brother or sister, get out and enjoy life a little more. It could all be gone tomorrow.

Thanks for the update Robby...it's hard to know what to say really, but I greatly admire your dedication to your friends and your ability to find something good from a terrible situation. Our best wishes to you and everyone with you from this side.

My buddy is searching for his family after flood...

As mentioned, here's a site I found which lists some places to donate. The area with the most need, in my opinion, is the little town of Martindale. I've spent a lot of time in Hays and Caldwell counties, and can say they really need some help.

http://www.austinchronicle.com/daily...ood-of-relief/

(Adam, thanks for the kind words, please keep the good thoughts headed our way...only 3 more people to go before these families can start to heal. Their Faith is incredibly strong, so I'm confident they will be able to rebuild their lives).

And my Texas is showing; here's a related article of happy stories (note: to my knowledge, these were not "our" searchers; rather, professional teams. Hugely proud of them):
