Do you actually wear your favourite watch?
i think i'm a little mad as my favourite watch in my collection is my '72 5513. i find it the most comfortable but rarely wear it because I like it too much and don't want it damaged in any way! Am I the only one who is that stupid?

I did, until I dropped it off at the San Francisco RSC a month ago (info in my sig). Now, I've been rotating the 1655 and one of my Triple 6's until I get it back.

You paid a lot of money for something just to look at. Wear it every day because you only live once.

I almost sold all my watches to fund my holy grail: a vintage 6265 big red. It is now on my wrist every day (except for swimming). |

Absolutely! Wouldn't be my favorite if I didn't wear it.

Life's too short. Really. I actually wear all mine, and suggest you enjoy yours to the full.

Clearly I am in the minority, but I understand the OP's point. Getting scratches on a modern sub/GMT or whatever, move on and take care of it at its next RSC service... not a big deal.
Getting scratches on a prime condition vintage piece is a lot less appealing. "Condition is king" when it comes to vintage. Many of us spend years trying to find the "right one." I enjoy wearing my 6263 a lot, but trust me it's not on my wrist when I am playing with my friend's Weimaraner or when I am traveling to parts of the world where there are known security issues. That said, there has to be a balance here. Keeping a watch in the safe is hardly any fun, so I think it's nice if you're able to enjoy it especially if you can identify situations where you feel much more confident that it won't get scratched or dinged up. |

Yes, of course. Even in the pool. I keep my watches serviced, and wear them as they're intended, no matter the age or how much I love them.

Yes, I wear them all. They are tool watches. Today I had my sub on while building an outdoor kitchen. Tomorrow I'm diving with it :) life's too short not to wear it.
