You should never buy a poor condition watch with an original insert over a good condition watch with an insert replacement at the same cost. A new insert is about 50 bucks in the case you cite, but you have a black/red and a blue/red, so what is the value to you that it doesn't have the original black insert (which could have been switched by the Dealer at purchase)

A savvy buyer will use whatever s/he can to negotiate a price downward. I.e. calling out that a watch does not come with the stipulated insert... Not a big deal in my book for references that had multiple possible inserts.

I believe the insert codes A, B and N were not applicable on the 16750 and 16760. They all seemed to have an "A" in the style number. I've never seen a 16750 with anything other than an "A" following the model number.
I believe the A, B and N coding to differentiate bezel inserts came later beginning with the 16700 then the 16710. The last two USA sold GMT 16760s that I owned all had the "A" code following the model number in the style listing.

As to the price of 16710s, I did notice when I was searching for mine the Pepsi seemed to be more than the others. Black seemed to be the least. I bought a super nice black one from DavidSW and I added the other 2 inserts for less than I have seen many pepsi ones listed for. Of course, who knows what those actually sell for, but still..... |

The coke insert was introduced in 1983 on the 16760

I went through the same dilemma and ended up getting one that was originally black, but came with a new pepsi. I had my heart set on coke and just went to the RSC to get it swapped out to a coke insert ($78+tax) and I got to keep the pepsi. So now i have all 3 :)

Interesting and thanks; the only reference I could find said 2000. So '83 is quite a bit earlier.

While the GMT II (16760) only came in black/red, the 16700 GMT Master that sold along side the GMT II came in either red/blue or black.
