I agree!

I'm holding out for the DD 36 mm with the new 3255 movement and upgraded dial aesthetics.

I wish their website had more information on the DD40 dial choices as well. I am interested in a meteorite dial with diamonds.

The diagonal motif make the new dials stunning!

I finally got a chance to wear the DD40 after eyeballing them for the past few months. It was a YG with black diagonal motif pattern. It just didn't feel right only because coming from a DD2 it felt less substantial. It felt like I was wearing a 36mm DD and didn't have that extra "oomph" of the thick bezel and large case.

Rolex sucked the fun out of the watch and I feel they made the 40mm because there was too much crying about straying too far from the original. The funny thing is, the same thing happened with BMW and the 2002-2005 745. "Traditionalist" kept crying that it was too radical of a design and it was blasphemous, when to me it was the closest thing to having a spaceship (that's a good thing). So BMW went and softened the design over the years and it wasn't the same..... Turns out the 2002-2005 7 series was their biggest sales success and the next 7er's couldn't replicate that.

Sorry for the rant.... Would I buy DD40?
Maybe a deconstructed Roman, but I wouldn't trade my DD2's for them.

I had a similar, maybe not as strong, reaction when I first tried on the DD 40, but I have to admit the 40 that Sam owns with the silver dial is calling to me. Nonetheless, the DD II feels so good on my wrist!!! Here's a poor iPhone photo of mine from last night as I was driving home after a day in Tokyo. With a son in college, I'd have to sell this one to justify buying a 40 and I'm just not ready to do that ... yet!

I guess the DD 40 got the better of you, Otto.

The right choice as it looks amazing on your wrist.

Very nice to see the three watches side by side. I was at my AD again today and tried on both the DD 36 and the 40. While the 40 is beautiful and I love the upgrades to the bracelet and the movement, for me the 36 is the right size.

I have a 7.25in wrist and can carry the 40 no problem but to me, even though the proportions on the 40 are better than the DD2, at 40mm it is still a large watch in PM. Gorgeous yes, but it is a statement piece. If that is what you want I get it, and if you want it go for it. To me the 36 is much more elegant and refined looking, which is what I am looking for. All a matter of personal preference so no wrong answer, just my opinion only.

Cheers and thanks again Eric for this thread!

I absolutely love the DDII in rose gold with chocolate dial. I looked at the new DD and although a beautiful piece, it wears smaller on my wrist than I would like. The difference between 40 and 41 is noticeable to me.

That being said, my AD sourced me a DDII and am waiting for the delivery any day now :)

Eric, thanks for posting those pics.

Looks like a good fun time.

I have to agree that the stick dials are probably my favorite.
