I need some 44mm ROO input guys...

I am in a quandary over the ROO 44mm in ceramic with the anthracite dial! To begin, I have ALWAYS thought this piece was killer ever since I first saw the pictures of it upon it's release. Now, with some of the members buying them and (kindly I might add) sharing wrist shots of them...I find myself obsessed. I have yet to see one in person, but honestly with all these terrific wrist shots...I feel like I have!

Now let's back up 6-7 months ago and let me state I did already own the ROO 44mm ceramic but the one with the black dial. I actually bought the piece pre-owned (only one I have ever seen as such by the way) and therefore was able to wear it and move on without getting killed. To me though, the black dial ceramic piece and the forged carbon piece looked too similar and as such I couldn't see the $6-7K price difference between the two. However this anthracite dial watch is a whole different animal!

So I know you guys that have picked one up obviously love it other wise you wouldn't have bought it...but is the anthracite dial what put you over the edge? Would you have bought the piece with the black dial? I would love to get some input from the AP fans as this is NOT a cheap watch!

I too am obsessed with the anthracite. I own the 44 steel and love the watch. I'm a serial flipper but it's been a keeper. I saw the anthracite in person and it's quite amazing. No one does ceramic like AP and the ceramic case is too die for coupled with the grey dial with the metallic flange. I love the watch and am holding on till I find one and a reasonable price.

I specifically did not want the all black ceramic version - far too monochromatic for me, hence the anthracite was the perfect antidote!

My first one has already gone, but another one arrives soon!

I too have only seen pictures...but conversations with people here on TRF that have handled the watch has me leaning towards picking one up

So I have to say go for it!

I owned black ceramic and like Roger found it too black all around. I tried on the anthracite at AP in Le Brassus and the 'pop' factor is amazing on it. You cannot go wrong with that watch and I would grab it based upon your initial toughts.

I personally really like the all black ceramic, even more so now that the dial is discontinued. That being said, I have ordered the Anthracite and look forward to having it sometime sooner than later. However, given the price that anthracites are going for (if you can find one), the RG44 is the way to go!

I'm very happy with my "preowned" anthracite.

Feel like I got a great deal and love the watch. Now the white ceramic diver? That one is expensive!

I wish I could find a "pre-owned" one with the anthracite dial! lol

Thanks for the inputs so far guys, keep em coming. I also have the idea to put the watch on a grey Schumacher strap as I'm (thinking anyways) it would go with the anthracite dial.

If you're in Manhattan why not go to the boutique and grab the anthracite that's sitting there with your name on it? I saw it just the other week and it was asking for you. Wouldn't shut up about you, acthally. Was kind of awkward.

To answer your question, I would not have bought it with the black dial. The watch does pop. To be honest I had no attraction to the AP ceramic line, as I have only owned 2 of their RG pieces. This piece though set me off and I'll be getting at least 1, maybe 2 ;) more ceramic pieces.

I need to see this one in person before I can pass judgement but from pictures I love the dial. All black has its place but anthracite might be more interesting in various lighting.

Fair question. I saw it a couple weeks ago as well and while I really quite like the anthracite, I don't like it enough to pay full list plus sales tax.

I saw it a couple weeks ago, they have it in stock. As per their salesperson Mark, not selling too well but white ceramic diver is.

^ive heard the same thing. It's an expensive watch for limited use. I still think it is more tolerable than the white diver IMO.

I saw it too and liked it more than I thought. The price is whackadoo though. Why am I paying the same amount as for gold? Still, if I spent more time in Miami I might consider it.

I am going to go against the flow and say the all Black C44 is more cooler / nicer than the Anthracite dial C44. I don't like the grey shade of the anthracite dial which while nice, is kind of dull in real life. There is no crispness to it. And I have seen and handle this piece numerous times as well irl. So if I will you, I will not bother with the upgrade. But of course, best to see it for yourself first before you decide. Manhattan AP boutique have both pieces for comparison.

I think the FC 44 is better than both the CE versions (to ME). That said, I have seen the black dial in person, but not the Anth. The White CE is to die for, but for that $$$, nty.
I love my PT 44 on white rubber, might be my fav of the 3 straps I have for it.

I saw both in real, and am not a huge fan for a few reasons, first I am not a big chrono fan, and second I find them a little too big for me, in looks I prefer the ceramic diver to be honest, the 44 which appeals to me is the RG, not the ceramic ones

This was taken at the HQ Boutique (yes you can buy an AP at the factory in Le Brassus). And yes they 'prefer' if you wear gloves to handle the pieces

In my very humble opinion the SS is the best looking ROO 44.
