MontBlanc Lead source
I have a Montblanc pencil and recently visited their flagship store in New York City to purchase lead refills. (This is the 0.9 mm size and product number 111539). I purchased two packages and much to my surprise the packaging said "Made in Japan". I thought i had read somewhere that the "authentic" source for Montblanc would be Germany. Indeed, i have noticed a distinct difference in the Japan-sourced lead - not as vivd and seemed to "drag" across the paper a bit more than the original lead (though i confess it could be my imagination). Anyway, wonder if anyone has insight into the sourcing question and whether i can obtain the German made lead anywhere.
Thanks ASC |

Yeah...
So lead is pretty much lead. Montblanc does not make their own as far as I have ever known. I would just get some Pentel lead and enjoy the pencil. I have a lot of "vintage" leads for my MB pencils as well as some modern leads and enjoy them all. And I am a pencil freak.
