All of you who have the utmost gratitude from me... I try (if they let me) to buy lunches anywhere I go where I see a LEO.... I know it is a only a token of appreciation, but with all the craziness out there this year, I hope it will at least let them know many more people appreciate the force than not.

I just wanted to thank all of you guys for your kind words of support and appreciation, it never goes unnoticed, and it's always appreciated! In this profession, a simple "thank you" tends to brighten a rough day.

Retired LEO here. I wore my Rolexes to work (plain clothes) toward the end of my career but put them in a safe place before arrests and the like.
Be safe my brothers.

17 years a police officer in Canada, in a city of 1.2 million, so seen it all. Watched people die at my feet. Thanks to all for the kind words and support....it's a fantastic job but what we have to see, hear, smell and do sometimes makes it difficult to transition from work to home. It can just be a damned rough time. Anyway! Here's my fav. I have an office now as the Executive Officer to a Deputy Chief, so my biggest threat is a vicious paper cut or stapler accident!

I have said it before but self initiated pro active policing is becoming a thing of the past. 911 calls only sadly. You get bum beefed sued, IA complaints that go in your file whether substantiated or not, called a racist , and get more stress from the lack of support than the danger involved. Body cams. Huge propenet. Outfit all officers. No more sound bites or short moment of control (physical force) used video bites.

in UK they basically have to warn the bad guy they are going to touch them before they can even make physical contact with them, otherwise it is assault

all because of people on facebook who have never had a job before thinking they know how to run things

anyway a lot of police officers here in the UK wear G-Shocks not seen any wearing a Rolex although a black sub would match the UK uniform pretty well

13 down, 7 to go. Taking a break from the Rolex game while I try to pay for a wife to go to grad school and save for 2 girls to go to college. I do miss my old 16600. I would never have had the stones to wear it to work as my dept has a max on reimbursement for damaged property which would probably only cover a springbar.

Law Enforcement Rolex lovers.

I've been a federal law enforcement officer for 19 years. Went through the Academy wearing my father's Omega Speedmaster Professional. Bought my first Rolex in 2002 and usually wear one to work.

Below this post, you will see that first Rolex, still a regular favorite of mine...

The anti law enforcement sentiment is disturbing, Depending on who is involved in the confrontation, the anti LE sentiment may come from the political left or right.

An inherent problem is that LE agencies, after a controversial use of force, are often limited in what information can be released. The judicial process takes precedence over public relations. And, sometimes, it simply takes time to sort out what really happened. As Donald Rumsfeld once remarked, "first reports are always wrong."

LE detractors with an agenda have no such constraints. The incidents draw media, which will fill any void because people will tune in to learn about these incidents. They are dramatic and emotionally charged. Commentators often like to link incidents to fit into their theory of larger social problems.

All worthy of debate...

But, that officer, who must go to work everyday knowing that the choices he makes in the course of his watch may have life altering or life threatening consequences, has no control over any of that. He or she goes about this often difficult business and most do so for all the right reasons and with the right intentions.

I may retire in the next year or so. What will I miss? The people. By and large, people in law enforcement are people you'd be glad to know and count as a friend.

Agree, I too miss the people. The locker room banter between cops is like nothing else. There were some days that my stomach actually ached from laughing so hard the previous shift.
While I love retirement I never miss a change to get together with my guys.

For the most part, the guys I work with are the biggest reason I continue to enjoy this job. There is a camaraderie that I can only compare to sports locker rooms. Except the humor is much darker and the alcohol shared is not usually top shelf. The guys I know who have retired all say the same thing. I miss the guys I worked with but not the job.

It must be a very tough job, but the vast majority of all citizens in whatever country are very happy that you guys are out there to keep us safe.
Respect to all the LEO's and if it was me I'd double your pay checks
