I'm a noob, so please forgive me if this is a silly question!

I have been told the Rolex anchors are plastic. Is this true? I googled them & found a great write up on them. It questioned the purpose of them & concluded why Rolex stopped issuing them, but didn't mention what they were made from.

Can anyone help...?

I will go check but I don't think so. I would have to guess at this point that they are die cast metal; probably zinc or tin. But they feel too heavy for plastic. I do have a very early Seadweller Anchor that has green plastic discs glued on where the depth rating circle is and I believe that it was just a Submariner anchor with 1000 feet on it and they glued on the discs saying 4000 feet, but I think the anchors are metal. I will be back shortly with more definitive info after I examine a few of them.

I still think they are metal, probably chrome plated zinc or tin. I would not say this with 100% certainty but they all have a rather metallic chime to them when struck by a small metal tool and they feel too heavy to be plastic. I did notice that the older one that I have from my first SeaDweller that I bought new in 1983 is heavier than the circa 1999 Seadweller Anchor and the relatively new 2007 Submariner Anchor. What can be derived from that is not sure as they are also a bit different in profile. The two SD Anchors are in the picture I posted earlier.

Definitely metal, the shiny anchor tips are polished like stainless steel.

Agreed. I believe they're too light to be steel, and way to heavy for plastic.
