For me it's like this.
1. WG Smurf (have one) 2. TT GMT II (have one) 3. YG Day-date 40 mm (not yet) If I was planning to buy the Platona I think I'll would wear that one almost everyday, what a beauty. I already have the SS 116610LN Sub (as rotation toolwatch), so these two will be enough for me. Also very happy with the three I have now

Probably said before but mine would be a YG Daytona on a strap, BLRO and Smurf.

SD4000, polar exp2, TT Daytona with blue dial
Three modern versions of rolex classics...black, white, blue...stainless and two tone...each one very different in look...each provides very different functions. Gives you great variety.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Personally, I like the Smurf but also think the YG Sub w/ Bluesy dial is as nice a YG sport watch as there is.
That would allow you to add the BLRO, which I much prefer over the YG GMT. Whether or not its worth flipping the Surf is totally up to you, but its very re-sellable. I believe (am I'm sure I'm in the minority at this point), that a Rolex PM sport collection of this magnitude should include the new Oysterflex bracelet. Maybe make the collection 4 pieces and that gives you a totally different watch and covers all the Rolex PM's. |

Poll Results So Far
#Votes Platona - 15 BLRO - 14 Other Daytona - 10 Other SS/TT Sub - 8 YG Sub - 7 Smurf - 5 SD - 5 Polar Exp II - 5 YG GMT II - 3 RG YM - 2 Other YM - 2 **** Based on this Poll so far, the Holy Trinity of Rolex Sport Watches would be (Drum roll please): 1) Platona - Chrono - PT 2) BLRO - GMT - WG 3) YG Sub - Diver - YG **** Mission accomplished... Top votes still are 3 different functionalities, three different PM's and all awesome! Note1: Sub votes were split with TT and SS, so YG Sub still got 3rd place Note2: There were many "other" Daytonas voted for but again votes were split and there was not one standout, except Platona of course. |

Holy Trinity of New Rolex Sports Watches?
If 3 PM only I'd go...
Smurf RG YM Platona But I'd keep my BLNR in steel, best GMT ever IMHO. |

my 3 would be toms exact 3 including the diamond dial on the smurf, it looks brilliant
maybe a yellow or rose gold day date too though, not sure if that is a sport watch |

this is an impossible task. but here is my take
smurf gmt green dial yg platona but - I think would need a boring ss black dial as beater - probably no date sub |

For me the first two are easy
BLRO Platona I'm not big on yellow gold with gold bracelets. I have a yellow gold Daytona on a strap which I love. That would be my YG choice of they all had to be PM. Personally, my real third choice would be a SS dive watch that I wouldn't feel bad beating up like a DSSD or SD4k.

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas.
I am seeing a lot of votes for BLRO... That would be very nice as well to go along with Platona and Smurf... BUT, I would add one thing possibly worth noting and considering about YG GMT II 116718. The YG GMT II (black dial) seems to look great on a black rubber B strap - at least from pictures I have seen. I want to see this in person. Maybe a better option than the new RG yachtmaster with oysterflex? Has anyone seen a YG GMT II or YG Sub (black dials) on rubber b or everest? With YG GMT II you get a full gold bracelet AND choice for rubber strap too. With the new RG Yachmaster, its a cool rolex rubber strap, but no bracelet for $25K? You can buy a minty YG GMT II 116718 for well under $25 from reputable grey dealers. p.s. I have a SS Sub, which is my tool watch/work-out watch and all-around classy beater |

Yep- the question is sports watches, yes? For sport?
So I'd say: Sea Dweller Explorer II Daytona, GMT Master II, Explorer depending on needs If on wants to spend a whole heck of a lot more money, maybe examine the offerings of PP, VC, AL & S, etc |

I want to play along, but since getting the Platona I can't find a reason to get the others to complete the trinity.

I'd have a hard time wearing something else if I had the platona.
