Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my wireless router at the home and am curious to see what I should get. I search google but everyone comes up saying "the best." The house isn't too large and the router would be located on the ground floor. We do have a lot of devices trying to connect so I am trying to get something big enough to support multiple cellphones, laptops, ipads, PS4s, etc. I've always either used Lynksis or Netgear but I'm open to w/e.

How big is the place (sq. ft)? And I guess it's safe to assume that you'll be streaming music, movies, etc since everyone else is these days. Also do you have thick walls and/or partitions?

Most of the new wireless routers should do the trick. I'm always partial to Netgear since I ran into some problem loading linux-based DD-WRT on some of the Linksys models.

One tip for better coverage, place your router access point on the top floor, or as high as possible to allow the RF waves to propagate better. If the router access point is low, the RF waves will get blocked, reflected, refracted or absorbed by items inside the home, such as walls, furniture or even human bodies, which contain water.

Had Linksys and bought a TRENDnet about 2 years ago. Couldn't be happier.

i found the Apple AirPort router good, and if you have at least 1 apple device, very easy to set up as it is either built into the device or there is an app (cant remember)

they also have mini routers designed for smaller houses which you can add to your current network to extend the range

plus if you have macs can make automatic backups to it

+1 on the airport. I use a Time Capsule and airport express as an extender
