SD case is nicer to me, don't like the maxi case. Dial and the general aesthetics on the BLNR are more attractive. Matte dial and ceramic bezel feels odd. BLNR more comfortable but a bit more blingy - if you like that. Owned it and flipped it as I found the blue-black combination too jarring and busy.

I like the GMT out of the two you mention...has a bit more flash to it, something I think you will miss coming from the yacht and blue sub.

First of all, the SD4000 is not heavy or unbalanced, rather the contrary. I tried to love the earlier 16600 and owned it several times but I could never find the right fit on my wrist - the adjustable clasp takes care of that. I think it should be a standard feature on all modern Rolex sport watches.

The SD4000 is as close to a vintage/original looking Rolex as you are going to get today. Personally, I adore the thinner lugs and the matte dial. It gives the watch a more traditional look, but at the same time the HEV with the 4000 ft rating and the raised class gives the watch a more technical and aggressive look - it looks like a diving tool, and it is something you can wear 24/7/365.

The GMT is a great piece. As I said, I wish it had a micro-adjustable clasp, it would make a big difference, at least to me living in a humid climate. Secondly, it is much more dressy than a SD4000. If you are the type that dress up more for work, drive a German sport car, etc, I think the polished center links, the glossy dial, etc will fit right in.

I mean, ideally, I would own both pieces :-) For now, I'm very happy with the SD4000. I sold my DSSD for it, I miss the Big Boy at times, but overall I'm super-happy with the SD4000. It is my most used watch by far, and it get/got much more wrist time than my DSSD, 114060 or 116610. Still have my 16610 that I wear at time, plus the other stuff.

I'd go with the BLNR --- extremely versatile!

Others have made great points. BLNR is an awesome watch, and I agree it is a bit more formal. For an all rounder I would lean towards the SD4000.

Ok the Big Choice... BLNR or Sea Dweller >>Help needed<<

I was deciding between these two at first as well. I really thought the SD4K was going to be it, but once I tried it on it just didn't grab me. The matte dial looks too subdued compared to the ceramic bezel. I also prefer the cyclops if I have a date. In the end I bought the BLNR and it's my favorite and most versatile watch. I also have an 114060 as well and often wear the BLNR on the SubC bracelet, that's the best of both worlds.

I owned a GMT ceramic and sold it because I did not like the chunky lugs or the PCL's. The SD 4000 is my current favorite; my Hulk sub is a tad more comfortable on the wrist but the SD just hits all the right notes for me. Obviously, either one is a great choice!

I flipped my BLNR for a WG sub. The only reason for flipping it IMO. I loved it and still miss it.

My choice between the two would be the BLNR all day long!!

Well, first of all, I wouldn't let anything I read on the internet stop me from buying the watch I want.

Now, how do figure out what you want? You've got to try a bunch on and see what you like.

Buying a watch based on what we think is not a good strategy. Good luck,

I have both but I wear the SD4K more. The BLNR doesn't have the magic factor the SD4K does in my opinion. I can wear the SD4K all week while the BLNR only feels right for a day.

Among the reasons listed above there is one word says that helps make the choice. Glide lock! Therefore SD all the way.

I don't understand all the comments about Glidelock needing to be on every Rolex sport model. Between half links, minute adjustment possibility in the bracelet and flip-lock, the GMT is more than capable of providing a perfect fit for just about everyone. My guess is most haven't spent the time to get it right. For me, the GMT is just as comfortable and fits just as well as my SD4K...

As a recent BLNR acquirer I can't recommend this thing enough. It's just so..versatile. And not just because of the GMT, but also because of the range of colors the bezel goes through during the day. From vivid blue in the morning to contained blue mid day to almost black at night. Works with a suit, works with jeans and t-shirt.

SD4000 for me, going on 11 months and I never get tired of looking at it on my wrist. Glidelock makes it a slam dunk decision.

Thanks for all the timely input! I have made my decision.

I jut felt in an absence of supporting and factual comment's made by proponents of the BLNR, otherwise known as the GMT Master ll, were ineffectual in swaying my opinion. Most of what was said here about the GMT was pure Malarkey, and I am not one to subject myself to such innuendo!

Haha ! Just kidding...

All your comments were appreciated and I did not mean anything said above. I'm just trying to get the, "GMT Goat" if you will... I think the BLNR is an attractive Rolex however, as you can see by signature I'm going with the SD4000 C.

hence the Emoji--->

Just saw where you lived - Santa Cruz, CA - that brushed stainless steel and monochromatic colors go perfectly with that beach/water lifestyle. Well done! I think you will very happy with your choice - works great on NATO as well!
