Yachtmaster 2 Stainless Discount

Question to those who purchased a stainless YM 2, what kind of discount did you score on the watch for those of you who purchased from an AD?

This comes up all the time. On a SS watch the most I've ever gotten was 10%. Might as well buy from the forums.

Can't buy from the forum. CAD too weak against the USD, plus extra expense of shipping, insurance, and duty makes purchasing from the USA NOT an option.

In fact, we got American's heading this way to buy Rollies, never mind a Canadian going to the USA.

I guess I should have included that in my point.

Sorry.

Thanks

I understand. How much would you think of a discount you would want before feeling comfortable in purchasing a YM2

10% sounds about right, YM2 not quite in same category as a Sub or GMT I think a reasonable discount could be expected.

You can do much better as it is a very soft seller - I would shoot for 20% on this one.

I agree this watch should be 20% off. I looked for awhile but didn't buy. They were routinely $13.5 to $14.5 US, pre-owned from trusted sellers. You could use those numbers for comparative purposes.

Try raffi or damiani. Express interest in the watch, spend some time going over it with the sales staff, then say I think this is the one, is there room for price consideration on this piece?

If possible, try to convey that you buy a lot of watches and have been eying this one for awhile. When I'm at an AD I haven't bought from before, I like to chat with the salesperson and let them know I am a potential repeat customer. For Instance when they inevitably say "are you looking to buy a new watch today? I say something like "Always, it's a sickness lol"

Sadly that's the truth.

I would hold firm for 20% or very close to it. I was able to do so on an SDc and its a similarly slow SS seller.

Try Knar in Oakville. I'm pretty sure they had one in stock. I would think you'll get at least 15% off. If you pay by a method other than Credit card they will usually do better as well.
Good Luck!!

I've bought two from ADs in Toronto, both SS. My discounts were 17.5% on a 114060 and 22% on my 214270.

I can't imagine you'd get less of a discount on a SS YM, as Ken mentioned it is not the most in demand reference.

I took a serious wash on my YMII.... Wish I was on TRF sooner.

It's definitely the funniest watch in the Rolex stable!

Thanks for the responses.

I will note, I was in an AD I've done business with in the past on Rolex watches.

I didn't see a YM 2 SS in their display case, but when I asked if they had one in stock, they answered yes.

Interesting that they didn't put it in their display case. This AD actually has a Rolex Boutique, so they have plenty of room in the display case for it.

Yeah raffi did the same when I bought my blnr from them. Next time I was there they started pulling SS daytonas out of the woodwork. The manager Peter is a good guy.
