Newbie with Sub ND vs. Tudor ?'s

so I'm ready to take the plunge and deciding between a Sub ND and either a Tudor BB or Pelagos. First question is did they make the ND in blue and what are your opinions. I really like the blue face and dial but my buddy says Tudor will never hold its value the same way. Thanks for your opinions

No blue no date sub in rolex that I know of and I would look for a vintage tudor blue sub or snowflake and you will have something that holds its value or appreciates rather than something built to cater to the "close enough" market and is more trendy than timeless. I am no expert by any means and that is just mho.

Dollar for dollar the new Peleagos with the in house movement is a better value and in my opinion a better watch. I know that many will discount the Pelagos for the simple fact that it does not have "Rolex" on the dial. Having owned many Rolex watches, and other prominent brands, the Pelagos is deserving of the same respect as its sister brand, Rolex.

I do not own a no date but I do own a date sub C. I also own a Tudor black bay blue...

Quite frankly they are both incredible pieces and when I was just getting started I worried about pieces holding their value. That isn't the case anymore. I simply do not care and buy what I like regardless of price and value. With that out of the way, you cannot choose a Black Bay over a no date Sub. They are simply two very different watches on very uneven playing fields. If you are going to go with just one watch, get the Sub. If you plan on eventually getting both, get the one that will fit your budget at this very moment more comfortably. Remember that if you get both, slightly used, from a trusted seller you'll be close to retail on a new sub.

I've owned them all. It's not even fair to compare. ND in a class all by itself. Versatile for all occasions and simply stunning!

1st go for the Rolex Nd,2nd watch go for the Tudor

Both great watches and there is a lot of value with either the Black Bay or Pelagos. But a Rolex is a Rolex and the Sub would be my choice.

i like my tudor BBN more than subc date. i don't own a ND sub

just bought a no date. i have both the BB and the pelagos. i would say its easily worth the price gap. the fit and finish is out of this world. however, if budget wise you're spending something you're not very comfortable with on the rolex then go tudor. the pelagos is easily the best in its price range. full titanium case with in-house movement (ETA has its perks too), ceramic bezel, extra rubber strap, etc. not much else can compete at that level. the BB is pretty sweet, but if you're looking at pure value the pelagos would be much more worth it. the beauty of the BB is in the design not really the function or technology.

Sub no question. Really though you should try both on and see which sings to you the most. Ultimately either will be great choices but I have to say the Sub, especially since I purchased it a few days ago as my first ever high quality timepiece and it's amazing

I would buy a 114060 and a Pelagos blue and enjoy the best of both worlds.

I can assure you that you will almost always lose your a$$ when flipping a watch you buy new. That being said, I was in the same situation last summer. I ended up getting the SubC no date and haven't been happier. As others have said, there really is no comparison between the Tudors and Rolexes. But Rolex doesn't make a TI watch, so for that, you'd need to get the Tudor.

In my opinion all 3 watches are great, I own a BB and a 114060 and love them both, thinking of getting a Pelagos blue as well. Follow your gut... and keep us posted!

For the amount I had invested in my 114060 I got rid of it because I couldn't get use to the weight and feel on my wrist. I feel the BBR is much more comfortable to me with 6.5 in wrists. I've got watches that feel similar to the 114060 on my wrist but they are far less expensive than the SubC. I decided that wearing my 14060 T<25 Sub met my needs. Actually for what I had paid for the SubC I own both the 14060 and the BBR and have both itches scratched. BTW, OP, welcome to the forum; enjoy.

Good advice. Dressy everyday diver in the 114060. Fun sports watch in the blue peli.

Vintage Tudor's have done really well.

I would go for a Tudor 79190 in blue if you can find one.

Here is an example of what one looks like I think its beautiful. I personally have a 79090 in blue love it.

And other good blue choices are a Blue Black Bay or a Blue Pelagos. If your worried about resale buy it preowned...

BTW, there were a couple blue 1680 submariner made in the 70's. Aparently they are very very rare.

if you don't plan to sell... doesn't matter if it will hold its value or not... that being said... buy the one u like.. I've own a lot of rolex.. from Lvc to SDc... flipped them all... and super enjoy my Black bay red...

The Pelagos is a great watch, but the ND Sub is a modern classic and I'd be more inclined to get it first. The Glidelock is an amazing feature and with the ceramic bezel and supercase it's the hands-down winner!

I own a Sub-C ND, a Pelagos Blue and a BBB. All are great watches but the Sub is the base of my collection and my favorite all time watch. If you can do it go Sub-C ND first. This may help with buying another but for me it did not.

I have the SubC, Tudor Sub 79090, and the BBN. Purchased in that order all within 2 months. Of the three the BBN gets the most wrist time followed by the Tudor Sub. Love all 3 though. The other question is how would you feel if it gets scratched and how do you treat your watches. Do you wear and use them as intended or baby them? I wear all my watches everywhere. Camping, work, beach, sleep, etc. (except to the gym). Everyone of my watches has a scratch here and there, not horribly but I'm not upset about the scratches either. That may be another deciding factor to you.

All three are great choices. I personally like the combination of a Rolex GMT and one of the Tudor divers.

Go with the Sub ND first and let the new wear off....then evaluate rather the Tudor is still calling you.
