Rolex Datejust 16030 successor?

I'm looking for more information about the Rolex Datejust 16030.

Basically I'm looking for a Datejust, but I couldn't care less about the white-gold on the 16234 and 116234. I just want the pure stainless steel of the 16030, but with the 3135 movement, and a fluted bezel instead of the engine turned one.

Does this exist? Was there any successor to the 16030 in any way, shape or form?

Yup precisely. I'm looking for basically the fluted version of the 16220. Also, am I wrong to think that there was no successor to the 16220? However, I'm wondering about the durability between the fluted bezel and the engine turned. Since the engine turned is a bit more "rounded", perhaps it will sustain the age better?

Like others have confirmed, the 16220 is the newer version of the 16030. Upgraded movement 3135, no lug holes case and sapphire crystal instead of plastic.
The fluted bezel of the 16014/16234 is white gold. So it sparkles a bit more than the engine-turned bezel, but is a bit softer and more prone to scratches.

The fluted bezel is always gold and the newer model numbers will end in 4 to show a white gold fluted bezel.

The fluted version of the 16220 is the 16234.
In the 16200 family, engine tuned bezel is stainless steel and fluted bezel is white gold.
On the net I found mislabeled fluted models to be 16220, but are in fact 16234.
White gold ages beautifully looking patina, both can scratch and dent although white gold is a softer metal. WG sparkles in light better, and is my choice.

Have you considered the 16200 ss with the plain bezel? I had one, looks great as a daily watch.

I don't think ss engine tuned bezel made it to the new generation of DJ 116200, therefore IMO 116220 does not exist. On a quick google check of 116220 all the watches were labeled incorrectly. Can any experts with knowledge confirm my observation?

I believe your correct about the engine-turned bezel being discontinued.
I did a similar search and the only ones that turned up were mislabeled, replicas or aftermarket diamond-studded modifications.
