168000 serial numbers

Is anyone able to tell me the correct serial number run for the 168000
Sub,I've seen a few online that should be 16800's bases on the serial but apparently they are 16800's

What serial range are you using to say they "should" be 16800's? Some people used to think 168000's were only made for less than a year around 1988.

But Antiquorum sold one from 1987 and there's a member here with an 865xxxx serial purchased in 1985. So, 8.6 mil through R I'd think is possible; I'm sure Rolex will never release the exact serial range.

No-one knows when the million serials really ended and R started (that is - did they let it run to 8999999 or did they swap over to R earlier?), but I'd say a high 8-mil to R, haven't seen an L serial trip zero.

Rolex has never released any serial number production data to the general public..

What is known is that serials were not always released sequentially and there is some carry over between models.
