Winder Recommendation for an early 70s Explorer?

In 1974, my father graduated from the US Air Force Academy as the Outstanding Cadet in Flying Gliders, and was gifted a 1973 or 1974 Rolex Explorer.

He gave the watch to me as a graduation present, and I had it restored by Rolex of San Francisco in 2013. I wear it in fits and spurts, probably averaging 3-4 times a week. I have a cheap watch winder that does not adequately keep the watch wound. If I go 48-72 hours without wearing it, the watch has stopped.

As something of a neophyte to watches (it's my only watch), I don't know much about winders. What makes and models of winders do you recommend for an antique Rolex? I did some internet research but none of that was for vintage Rolexes so I want to make sure I get a winder with an adjustable TPD that works for my watch.

The winder will be in my bedroom so I'd like it to be as quiet as possible.

To be perfectly honest, the idea of using a winder on a watch with 3 hands and no date would not cross my mind. I would only really consider one for a complicated piece such as a calendar watch. Perhaps for a vintage slow set date but I have several and seldom adjust the date...

If you do a search on TRF for "winders" you will find many threads dealing with this subject. There are those who are vehemently pro winders and at least an equal number who are anti-winders. Take your pick. But the age of a watch should have nothing to do with the issue of whether or not to use a winder.

Jason, would love to see pics of your watch! Sounds like you have a beautiful one and a great story along with it. Wasn't sure if you were concerned about the 2-3 day "charge" on the watch but just want you to know that is completely normal. Even for modern Rolexes.
