I am on my 7th. BMW ... my wife on her 3rd. Obviously, I am a fanboy ... but I never had any issues, love the brand to death, love the way they drive and the tech, got a great service guy, great warranty ... I don't have a single negative thing to say (other than depreciation sucks). I know guys that had all sorts of issues, but knock on wood, it hasn't been the case with me ... and service has always been great.

Out of your options and considering your other toys, I'd go with the 750 ... It's a spaceship! The 6 grand coupe is nice as well!

I've also had a bunch of BMWs including a few Ms (one of which I sold at over 150K miles and rock solid reliable). It really depends on your usage, for around town, I'd say the 750 would work best if you have the other toy anyway. i8 I have some experience with and also very cool, but a bit more of a toy I'd say. They did a great job on the doors vs. some other exotics, and looks cool while still allowing people to come up and say hello more freely.

Just got the brand new sapphire black/black 750 with pretty much every option including led sunroof, luxury rear seat package, m package, ambient air, m pedals, rear spolier etc etc. All I can tell you it is a fantastic car and as owner of last version blows it away. It as carbon core center so lighter, quicker and better driving experience. So for me absolutely love it!! I can tell you also Dave aka Racerdj got one also and loves his too!

PS Make sure if you do get you get the led roof as it is very cool! Also the ambient air package pretty cool as well.

Based on the cars you have and go through, the i8 will feel dead to you. The 750 is a great luxury car so if thats what you're looking for, go for it. But then again, if I rolled like you, I would get an MB S600 Maybach

s600 maybach is great if you have a driver. Alpina B7 or MB S63/s65 on the other hand

You've already had a merc recently. In a 4 door sedan that I was not keeping long term anyways, I would personally choose a Porsche Panamera or maybe a Jag over the 750. Given that awesome Ferrari you just got, the i8 seems redundant as a toy.

The key is awesome, the tech amazing and the ride superb! You will be surprised in how quick it is too for a big sedan.

I'm late to the party as usual.
Paul,do you still have the RS7?

I'd pick the big sedan to go with your other new toy.

Huge congrats again!

Paul, I have deep knowledge of both cars you are considering. Spent a while with the I8 past summer and as much as it is a fun car, getting in and out of it somehow ruin the fun factor + no luggage room and the inexistant back seating. Considering your 458 in the stable it would be redundant and you would get bored after 1 month.

The 7 series on the other hand is a superb piece of engineering but you have to be careful with the ordering guide as it is extensive and the sales rep has to master it otherwise you can miss some very nice options like master Ken said. The //M pack is mandatory imho as the car truly become something else. The ride comfort is perfectly balanced for a dd and the tech inside is just awesome and very intuitive.

I would pick the 7 over the I8 without thinking any further. With the 458 you would have a perfect duo.

Original owner of E93 2008 M3. It has been a great car in the sense of it being tons of fun to drive, strong motor, solid handling.

I have had a lot of problems, including an electrical issue that would drain the battery when it was brand new, AC condenser replacement which cost $4000 out of warranty, and my convertible top got stuck in the down position. I haven't been too impressed with service, I usually don't manage to get a loaner, but some of that may be due to the small size of the dealership here.

I am terrified of a major engine or DCT malfunction.

I will most likely buy another BMW, but probably either get the extended warranty, or get rid of it before the existing warranty expires.

Congrats on the 750!

Well I went to the BMW site and clicked on 'For Owners' videos for new 7 series...198 'how to videos'--this could take a while to have the expert explain everything tomorrow

Congratulations Paul. Really nothing to worry about seriously. Picked one out the lot and drove it home without even looking at any tutorials and was all set 1 hour later. 98% of the settings are done through the idrive which is really well designed with a max of 3 levels of config per menu. The lane departure warning is somehow annoying to me so I leave it off. The rest of the options you have on the car are really perfect. The base audio is good enough, the BW is sure a nice one but not a mandatory one. Which color combo you got ?

Fantastic...yeah I'm not one to deal with 'experts or manuals'--I'll figure it out sooner or later LOL.

Color was a bit of sore spot, as I wanted blk/blk, but every black they had (12 of them) had some funky combo of features/interior I didn't want or it didn't have M or M 20" which were mandatory for me. So, I had to make a call...white or Singapore Gray as they both had all the options I wanted (minus BW sound). So I just went with Sing Gray/black interior...if I hate it, I'll get another one down the road. I care more about the interior color than exterior, so I'm fine with it. I didn't feel like waiting another 6 weeks for one, so said what the hell.

NOT EXACT CAR, BUT SAME COLOR. INTERIOR IS BLACK NO TAN.

Well, with the singapore grey, you are very close to black so I don't think you will have an issue. I like the smokey look of the grey, it gives it a little something. Agree with you, must have M pack with 20, it adds some drama to the car. You will see, the car truly comes to life at night with the interior lightning. Competition is strong in that segment and BMW really did an amazing car. Please share some pics tomorrow and congrats again!

I just got my first BMW and I was a Mercedes guy. My Wife has always been a BMW girl and she has had very good luck with her BMW's. I am hoping I have good luck with my M6.

I am late to the thread but voted for the 750 for a luxury cruiser over the i8. Sing Gray/Black Interior is a nice combo as it is just a little different than B/B. Bummer they did not have one with the Bang & Olufsen high-end Surround Sound system. Could be worth looking at a different dealership and having it transported.

Congratulations!!!! Looking forward to the pictures!
