Suspicions confirmed. Explorer l problems.

I have a 2010 Rolex explorer which I usually rotate with my sub to keep the two wound enough. I picked up my explorer after less then 12 hours since I wore it and it had stopped. I then tested it last night (11:30pm) with a full 40 winds of the crown and this morning when I woke up (7 am) it had stopped at 6:10am.

What is the main cause for power reserve failure ? How much does a repair cost these days approximately? I'm shocked after 5 years of light wear that these issues occur and under no warranty either

id say send it in for a full service. I don't know what is the main cause of this type of power reserve failure. Probably cost around 500 USD to service an explorer 1. If you send it in and its a minor problem there is a small chance they don't charge you anything. good luck.

Thanks mate ! I'll visit the AD today and see what they say. Not really looking forward to giving my watch in to be honest but it has to be done :(

If your AD has an in house watch maker he could take a quick look and give you a prognosis.

Bite the bullet. Send it to Rolex for a full service and it'll come back like new with a 2 year warranty.
Up until the recent recommendation of service every 10 years it used to be very 5 - 7.

The most likely fault is a broken mainspring.

Many times the watch will still run for a period of time but will not take a full wind.

Rolex routinely changes out this part on a regular service; should be an easy fix...

Yup, I'd second the broken mainspring theory.

They'll make you do a full service but its about time for that anyway.

Service likely to be $600; that's what RSC charged in december 2015 for doing full service to my Datejust.

should still be under warranty (3 year warranty now for that watch)....send it in and get it fixed for free before warranty expires.
