I'm in my Passat and I love it. Best car I've owned. However, once I get some shite settled I want to sell it and pick up a newer version with the 1.8T, lower it, chip it and put some nice 17" wheels on it and I'll be a happy chappy. |

Reminds me of a paragraph from my car's user manual... "The curb and back-up sensors might confuse water drops with other objects during rain or thick fog. It is best that you excercise caution in these conditions as the sensors' reading might not be accurate" Or something like that.

In the Golf? That 1.8T is a rocket in the Golf and the Jetta. In the Passat it's not bad, but mated to the manual transmission, the Passat 1.8T manual is faster than the V6 auto (I have). I read a Wett chip can bring the 1.8T from 170hp up to 207hp... then you put a K&N system on it for another 12-15hp and you're up in 220hp territory which is really good. Of course, I could just say effe it and get a W8... |

BTW, there's a '97 BMW 540 with a six speed manual/sports package for sale here in Ottawa. It's got 150,000km on it and he's asking CDN$18K or 19K. Not a bad price, and not bad milage... but the car will be 10 model years old in a few months. Looks sweet tho! |

I actually use it a fair bit. I miss manual transmissions that much. It's particularly useful when merging onto a highway or dropping it down a gear or two to get past some slowpoke. |
