Buying from private,Audemars piguet offshore
Hi,
I am new to Audemars piguet,i have been offered an offshore by a private seller via chrono24.com,it has papers and box,am i safe it is an authentic piece as long as paper and watch corresponds? Would i need to have a watchmaker take a look at it before purchase? Is there any thing in particular i should be aware of? Thank you, David |

I would contact Akatakuya or DavidSW and call it a day. Which model are you looking to buy?

Hi, I was new to AP as well and lucked out buying from a well know collector here. That said, I would not hesitate to purchase from either Takuya who is also well know on Paneristi and I've seen him there for many years or DavidSW who helped me confirm my seller I purchased from even though he wasn't part of the deal. IT'll be headache free form those two! Worth it weight in gold. Happy shopping!

Buy the seller...I personally have not always heard the best things from Chrono24. Would buy from trusted dealers and well-known members with references.

Make sure your seller has plenty of references and check on them yourself. Buying high end watches like AP is no place to chase the lowest price. (Not saying that is what you're doing just a rule)

You're in NYC, if the seller is too, you can always meet him at AP and let them confirm it.

ROOs are hugely faked and also frankened, only buy from trusted sources.

Where is the seller located? I don't think there's that many fakes of an older model like the 25770.
However, don't just buy blindly, since you are new to the brand. Plenty of other good dealers/sellers out there besides our here on TRF. I would try to get the price down a bit (if all checks out) because if the watch isn't serviced, it's probably long overdue. A service will be at around 2K.

If you are in nyc, check out the website mr-timeinc.com. Mike is an excellent resource for ap and can prob get want you want at a great price. To top it off he will also hand deliver, can't beat that. Make sure he brings a pizza as well.
