I do respect your wanting a birth year watch, BUT you should buy the new SubC and make new memories with your watch.. Either way don't get too caught up in your watch purchase, just enjoy it!!

While the newer so called solid link bracelet might feel more substantial the newer type or so called solid links are still machined but they are machined with holes drilled right through the metal. So in the real world they are as well technically hollow but not to the same extent as the older type. And in every day wearing would doubt if any real difference in strength or longevity of life as long as you keep them clean. Thats the simple answer in the life of any Rolex oyster bracelet keep it clean and they will last 20-30 years plus.

Some of my watches were used and abused as proper tool watches for years underwater yet they show no sign of so called stretch or wear yes they are scratched but that's all.Even the older type Oyster bracelets have been stress tested and will take 525 lbs pressure before breaking and that's enough to seriously damage your wrist and arm.
Thanks for the info!

Buy something new and start a history with it. Birth year watches, unless brand new unworn, are somebody else history.

Would you guys go for the birthyear with hollow links or a new sub C with solid links?
It's an old watch. Of course it's going to have old technology. It has hollow end links too! Either you're a vintage guy or you're not - if you're worried about hollow links... you're not.

I agree that if hollow links bother you, then you probably won't be happy with the 168000.

Consider, though, that the 14060M which was in production until 2011 had hollow links and also consider how many pre-six-digit Subs are still on the wrists of satisfied Rolex owners worldwide.

You might also consider that there's still a lot of people walking the earth for whom there are no birth-year Subs, so you might count yourself lucky that you actually have one out there waiting for you to make up your mind.
