I bought a black SubC for my first one. That's because my tastes run conservative. Get what you want. There are no bad looking submariners.

I considered the Green as I really like it, but I have always maintained that watches with colour struggle to stand the test of time. Just a personal belief.

So for me, it would be black.

Having said that, most of us flip our watches regardless of thinking every watch is a keeper when we buy it, so a long term view probably isn't that important.

And hey, Gerry McGovern wears the Green, and he knows a thing or two about design!

*If* you like them equally, then consider this, you should always be able to source a black sub. It's not going anywhere. You can't say that about green bezel subs. So get in while the gettin is good.

Tough choice. The LVC's dial is so stunning in different sunlight conditions. Furthermore, it is a rarer model compared to the LN based on what my AD tells me. That said, I love the classic LN look.

Tough choice. Can't go wrong with either. Follow your gut.

LVC. Even as an only watch. Way more versatile than you would think. I've owned both and it's not even close for me.

I have both Subs the black and green. I bought the black first because I thought I was only going to have one Rolex in my life. Then, after I got the watch bug, I bought the color I really wanted (so I was a little different) the green. I see tons of black subs but only ever seen on green one in the wild. If I was only going to stick with one Rolex, for me it would be the black one.

I had the same debate in my head about going with the black or the green sub.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. The green is stunning.

The thought process that brought me to the black one was I wanted the classic black. If I were to get a second sub then I'd probably get the green, but as my one and only, I had to go black.

Congratulations on your business success and welcome to the forum.

Just a quick question. Have you actually tried both the black and green on your wrist? If you haven't, that would be one way to see which one sings to you and looks good on you, and which one you like the best. That's all that matters, really.

Green is different. In the day, I bought the original green sub LV, before the the green SubC came out. I still love it, because you don't spot them as much and I like colors. However, the black sub is popular because it is a versatile, neutral color. On one hand the black isn't as detectable in terms of color. On the other hand, it is the most often seen Rolex in the wild. Hummm, so which one? The one that you like. You can't go wrong with either. Let your feelings and emotions dictate your choice on this one, and not other people's opinions or views.

I know a lot of people are self-conscious about wearing a Rolex, wondering what others will think. I understand that, and it's a valid consideration if you are in that situation. But, a Rolex is a Rolex, and not an Omega, or a Breitling, or a Zenith. They are nice watches too, but....., there is something, a feeling, that comes with wearing a Rolex.

In my opinion and experience, most people won't notice that you are wearing a Rolex. And people who notice do so only if (1) they happen to spot the brand name Rolex written on your watch, which is without a doubt the most recognized watch brand around the world and synonymous with fine but expensive watches, or (2) they themselves are interested in watches and can recognize that you are wearing a Sub by Rolex.

There are a lot of things to consider, so take your time, and good luck in your making the right choice for you.

Both great...I would tend to agree with the line of thought if it's the only one, then black...otherwise green. Good luck,

Agree with this too.

I have the black and a couple of other Rolexes. Thinking of adding hulk at some point but could never part with the black (unless for a smurf!).

I have always thought about getting the black dial, but to be honest am a little reluctant because it is so common, even though it seems to be a really versatile watch in terms of dressing up or down. I love the look of the green one and that it's a little more unique but am concerned it might stand out too much. I know that may sound funny but I'm purchasing this watch for me, and would prefer for most ppl not to really notice that I'm wearing a Rolex. My colleague actually purchased a Zenith for this very reason.

I'd love to hear if any of you guys have struggled with the same issues and if you did purchase a more "flashy" watch if most ppl noticed this and did it prompt weird comments like "how much did this cost", or anything of that nature? Did you find yourself wearing the watch less than what you intended? Thanks!

Buy what you like and want and don't worry about what other people will think. If you do, you will not get any enjoyment from your timepiece. Heck, most people don't pay any attention to watches anyway. My vote is for Hulk as I love mine and Black subs are just too common.

Get black, because if you decide you don't like the green, it's going to be very hard to flip.

It is not going to be hard to sell, plenty of demand, and if he buys right not much loss either, I think the black dial loses value more.

Go Green. It's a little bold but the dial has a beauty to it that the LN lacks. It grows on you the more you wear it. Easily a daily, but fits better in a rotation.

Get the green model if you like it.

I can't see it attracting huge amounts of attention but you can always tell people it was a gift if you are uncomfortable with the thought you may be questioned about the cost.

The good thing is you can't go wrong with either. The green is certainly more unique - however like you said it will stand out a bit more. People will ask those types of questions but most likely it will be very seldom. Some people on this message board claim nobody has ever taken note (or commented on their watch) - others have experienced dozens of comments (whether they be compliments or snide remarks). I think it really depends on the person wearing it, and where you are wearing it (the people surrounding you, strangers or friends).

It sounds like you truly want the green, therefore that's what you should go with. Go try both on, see how they look on your wrist and complexion, who knows, it might make the decision easy for you.

Good luck and congrats on the new job. You'll enjoy either one you get.

Congratulations on your "big hit". Go with Green. There will be more-big hits and Rolexes.

Make it happen and please post pics when you do.

Best,

Scott
